Hi. Were you in the military? If so what branch? My whole family is all Navy. I like to ride my jetski and park near the naval base where i live and watch the planes take off and land lol.

Well, this veteran is starting over. I was married to a Lap Band for about 7 years, then I got that infamous 7 year itch and divorced him!

I'm in the process of revising to bypass now.

How's your journey going, @Tink22-sleeve?

I don't believe "Veteran's" in this context is about military service, rather it is about having had WLS a number of months, years, or decades in the past.

Good luck,

Tek

I have been doing pretty well, overall. Life goes on after surgery for sure. But, I have been blessed.

Really my only complaint about the sleeve is that I developed awful GERD immediately after surgery, so I am dependent on Prilosec twice a day. I suppose a revision to bypass would solve that problem.

Yeah, that was the cause of my divorce from my band... GERD. I lived with it for years, and was on Protonix twice daily and it didn't help much at all. I still had to sleep sitting up. When I developed a kidney stone from PPI usage, I filed for divorce immediately. 😁

Oh interesting! Other than GERD, where there other reasons for the revision? I'd like to consider that myself. When are you scheduled?

No mostly just GERD. I never made it to my goal weight with the band, so hoping to lose more weight with the revision. I just had my first appointment about a month ago to start the process, and I have one more visit with the dietician next week and then I see the surgeon for a pre op visit and I'll get my date then. We're thinking it might work out for the end of April tho.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
