My dad used to swear by a shot of port followed by one of brandy. Also used to soak prunes in 100 proof rum. Said he always felt better. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

No joke, prunes in whisky is amazing for Breakfast with yoghurt. I know in America this makes me a degenerate but here people share a bottle of red and a shot at 6am.

Call it placebo effect- I do love that this exists and take full advantage of it every chance I get- but I (and my best friend too since we seem to share the same gi ailments, although, for different reasons) drink a small can of ginger ale for an upset stomach. Sometimes itโ€™s not just about nausea, sometimes itโ€™s being empty too long, waking up, hormones, etc. whatever the reason, it does the trick. I have found that I can still tolerate a small can as long as I donโ€™t chug it (just havenโ€™t tried to chug as sipping works fine). Carbonation in small amounts hasnโ€™t bothered me yet. I try to not do it often though because of the high fructose corn Syrup but aside from that, I say if youโ€™re unsure of something, try a small sip (or small bite) and see how it goes.
FWIW- I still get nauseous/queasy from time to time and Iโ€™m 2.5 months out. Ginger ale still helps. So does ondnasetron.

I'm 2.5 out. Taking 2 nausea meds. Some days not so bad, some days I wake up nauseated. I think I'm going to try some sugar-free ginger ale. The regular stuff doesn't help so much.

I talk to my dr about it.
He also let me know to try mint or peppermint tea. He said mint was suppose to help.

The dr did let me know drinking small amounts of ginger ale or coke would not hurt but needs to be very limited. He said he understood cause he has heard of that before when nothing else helps.

Ginger or peppermint tea with Splenda. If I absolutely cannot choke anything else down I will eat a couple saltines very slowly. I havenโ€™t had any issues with feeling nauseous in a while but those helped me.

I've never heard of ginger ale as a cure for nausea or, well, anything. :)

Yea, I told him I know medical findings says it shouldnโ€™t, but it does help.

The dr said no worries, he said on the occasion I get a Migraine the only thing that settles my Migraine is a coke.

I guess itโ€™s just one of this weird things, but my family and friends have always use coke and ginger ale with saltine crackers when sick. Doesnโ€™t cure it but helps settles it out so itโ€™s not bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
