Fill Or No Fill

Recommended Posts

I JUST DON'T KNOW IF I NEED A FILL. I LOST WEIGHT RIGHT AFTER MY FILL WHICH WAS 12/3, BUT DON'T SEEM TO BE LOSING ANYMORE. FOR THE FIRST TIME I CAN'T EAT Breakfast (SOLIDS) IN THE MORNING AND I CAN'T EAT MUCH meats BUT EVERYTHING ELSE GO DOWN FINE. I DON'T HAVE TO SIP MY Water , IT GOES DOWN GOOD. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. DO I NEED A FILL? OR NOT? IF I DO I NEED TO SCHEDULE MY APPT NOW, I MIGHT GET SOMETHING IN JANUARY. SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?:help:

If it were me I'd say no fill. When I'm tight (like right now) I can't eat most meats, ground turkey is the exception. But a lot can change in a few weeks, especially in the beginning (i assume you're in the beginning since your ticker is at 11 pounds down). I'd call your dr and ask if you can schedule an appointment and possibly cancel it with 2-3 days notice, just incase you don't end up needing a fill. I know my drs office permits this as long as I call about 4 days before the appointment.

There are 2 types of restriction. Restriction to liquids and restriction to solids. Restriction to liquids demands an unfill. If you have restriction to solids I would recommend trying softer food first. If you start to lose again on a softer diet you need to make up your mind if you want to stay there. Sorry I can't be of much more help.

I am in the same spot right now, I can eat ground beef and turkey but no other meats-i have good restriction- my dr has me come in once a month regardless so if I do not need a fill I won't get one- I would say make an appt for a couple of weeks from now and then if by then you feel you are not restricted go in, if not reschedule for the following month.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
