Ccosta0425 20 Posted March 3, 2022 Hey everyone I was wondering how long everyone had pain at the site where they took the part of your stomach out. I’m now 3 weeks out and still having very sharp pain. I still cannot bend down or anything. Just hoping it will feel better soon. The doctor said it’s normal but I just want others opinions. Ibiza2023 5 Posted March 3, 2022 What they dont tell you about surgery: day 7-10 is when your nerves start regenerating and those are often the most psinful days. That's why they prescribe you the soluble pain killers. After day 12 you won't feel anything Sent from my SM-G973F using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Eagles8120 reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted March 3, 2022 I'm sorry you're going through this for so long. You'll get varied responses here. I never had any pain and never took any of the pain medication. But others, obviously, have. It probably is "normal" like your surgeon said and if you need a pain pill, take one. It shouldn't be too terribly much longer before it settles down, like at the 4 week mark.

SummerTimeGirl 582 Posted March 3, 2022 Yup. I had that stupid pain at that location until about week 3 or 4! Up until that time I had to sleep semi sitting up in bed because I dare not lay down flat or on my side cause if I did, YIKES, that pain! LOL Anyway, it was a pain in the you-know-what but it should be giving you some relief soon, I'd say.

I wasn't able to bend over or anything for that amount of time either due to the pain in that spot. I remember reading about others who had the surgery done close to my date were able to lay down no problem from day one. I was so jealous. LOL But yeah, one day you'll just notice it no longer hurts. 1 Therese22 reacted to this

Aquaphor is a good place to start. You need to keep those incision lines moisturized so that they heal nicely and more importantly, reduce the pain and discomfort.
