Long time lurker, first time poster here today. I had my gastric sleeve procedure today and the procedure went well. Minimal pain at the incision sights, but holy cow is the pain from the gas no laughing matter! Currently sitting in a recliner in the hospital room hoping to fall asleep when with the high amount of pressure in my chest from the excess gas.

Any advice other than walking it off? I was actually walking so much the staff reminded me rest is also critical to my recovery.

I just want the pressure gone!

Nope…time and walking it off is what helped me. Meanwhile I slept propped up w a pillow behind my back. Think it was just a couple days at most.
Glad your recover is pretty smooth!!
Congrats!

Walking is best. Keep them short, a lap or two depending on the size of the ward, three or four times a day. I’d walk to the sitting room at the end of the ward, sit for a couple of minutes & walk back (Well I did until I stumbled upon the man in his badly tied surgical gown standing in front of the window so the sun shone threw the gown highlighting all his ‘attributes’.)Though you may find you spend a lot of that first 24-48 hours sleeping. Gas X helps too. Listen to your body if it says rest, rest.

Congrats on your surgery & all the best for the rest of your recovery.

Oh I remember this. Walk walk walk. :) It's the only thing that helps.

Walking, Water, sleeping. That's all you need to prioritize the first few days.

This is one thing I'm not looking forward to as I experienced it with my C-section. I do remember that massage and heating pads help as well. The pain can be insufferable, but fortunately, it is only temporary! Here's to your successful surgery and recovery!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
