All I can say is what I was able to eat - right away I started with egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, after a little while I added in scrambled eggs with shredded cheese. Every day (and still continuing to today) I drank a Premier Protein shake (12 oz container) and whenever I got thirsty I'd drink Crystal Light lemonade. If you aren't taking in any food or liquid you're going to have problems, you should speak with your doctor's office if its this difficult.
Arabesque 7,414 Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) Definitely get in contact with your medical team or go to your local medical centre asap! Dehydration is a big concern with many complications. You’re only managing a third of what you should be having. I had swelling to begin but it passed after a couple of days but it made swallowing difficult & painful. I did find warm drinks much easier to sip: more soothing on my throat & easier on my tummy. I even heated my Protein Shake. On day 9 most are still only on fluids - Protein Shakes, broths, cream Soups. Make sure you’re only having a sip at a time & waiting in between. If your shake contains lactose, it may be upsetting your tummy because you may be a little sensitive to dairy post surgery (this is not uncommon & is usually temporary). Look for lactose free shakes. All the best. Edited February 27, 2022 by Arabesque 1 SleeverSk reacted to this
summerseeker 2,236 Posted February 27, 2022 Hello Heather, I struggled too, its the absolute pits to be where you are now isn't it. Are you taking a medication for acid reflux or nausea, you really need this. My life was a living hell till I got Lansoprazole. As everyone else said contact your team and you will get help and reassurance.
