Twinkle9 2 Posted February 24, 2022 Hi everyone! I have a question about gas and bloating. I am over 2 years PO with gastric bypass. Everyday i am so freaking gassy and bloated. Is this normal? catwoman7 11,220 Posted February 24, 2022 could be the gum - either air or the artificial sweetener they use. otherwise, some people develop intolerance to certain foods after surgery. Some become lactose intolerant - and some can't handle some of the artificial sweeteners (esp sugar alcohols - the ones whose names end in -itol. Like xylitol or maltitol or sorbitol. Those can cause G/I distress in some people. 3 summerseeker, SleeverSk and Arabesque reacted to this
SleeverSk 635 Posted February 25, 2022 I agree with Catwoman and I am putting my money on the gum, stop chewing for a week and see what happens

Tierra T Tij 56 Posted March 9, 2022 (edited) I've been post-op longer than you and I'm STILL gassy. So I just stay away from dairy, cabbage, broccoli, spicy food, red meats like steak (too tough and hard to go down so I just avoid it), and fizzy stuff of course NO STRAWS NEVER. My body prefers mushy or pureed stuff like canned tuna, salmon, tilapia, steamed veggies like carrots, celery, kale, or arugula. By the way, you aren't supposed to chew gum! That will get your stomach gassy and bubbly not only that you could swallow it and get it stuck in your pouch, eek!
