I had sleeve to by-pass surgery two weeks ago today. Although I feel good overall, I’m extremely cold most of the time. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it go away?

I've seen people on here talk about being members now of the "Polar Bear Club" because they're cold all the time.

Many people start to be cold all the time. I was always cold before the surgery and now I'm not so cold, because I work out more. I'm not as cold when I exercise. See if you feel warmer after a walk. I find that when I'm sitting all day (which is happening right now due to a knee injury) I'm very cold. Usually I would walk on the treadmill when I start to get cold and I'd be warm for a few hours after just 10 minutes of brisk walking.

You can also try drinking hot tea or Soup.

I am a member of the "Polar Bear Club." It has not gone away...although I am no longer cold most of the time, just some of the time.

it's really common. Sometimes it goes away, sometimes it doesn't. I was like that the first few months, but not anymore - but it seems to be permanent with some people.

Thanks for the feedback. I hope it eventually goes away.

I became so cold after surgery that I’d get the shakes. My solution was electric heated blankets, microwaved hot pads and a space heater.

Also 4 layers of sweaters at once. And slippers. And fingerless gloves.

I’m also not above wearing a knit cap!

I went from sweating just sitting around all day to brutally cold even when I work out.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks post op for me and my first "freezing" episode. Ftr, I'm ALWAYS hot. Like sleep with the fan on in the winter hot.... but not last night lol.

Ive been cold since surgery too. Even when i spiked a fever post op. I cant seem to warm up. Of course its winter for me and theres usually a few weeks at its coldest point that i just cant seem to stay warm, but this is ridiculous, i am going to end up with a huge Water bill from sitting in a warm bath or a giant electric bill from turning the heat up to 80!
im hoping that by shivering im increasing my calories burned. That would be the only upside of shivering like this all the time.

I hope your knee heals up soon. I find I can warm up reasonably by short brisk movements too. I went to the thrift shops and got some wool sweaters that were flattering, make sure you dry clean or hand wash before wearing. Among people I know who have had WLS, being cold was common. Among them, purposefully moving more helped regulate body temperature, but it’s not universal.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
