Hello All,

I am new and so happy to have discovered this group. I am almost 3 weeks post op now. I have lost about 12 pounds in these first weeks. I have energy now, but some days I do not. I am really struggling to get all the Protein Shakes in, the stomach medicine, the liquids and not drinking liquids while I am eating is rough. I am happy with my decision and the results so far. I have a fear it will just STOP. Thanks for the group and I look forward to being more active.

WELCOME :) Have you tried like unflavored Protein Powder and adding it to say broth? Its another way to get Protein in instead of the constant shakes.

Great idea! Do you have a preferred Protein powder that that isn’t flavored?

What i have used is from GNC called Isopure whey Protein isolate. It comes in several flavors and unflavored.

Welcome, Heddenturner, and congratulations on taking this huge step for your health. 😊 I had a difficult time getting in all my Protein and fluids in the beginning too. My nutritionist assured me everyone is different and to just do the best I could and that my body would allow what it can, when it can. I agree with Liveaboard15 too. broth is a great option, and that is actually the exact powder my nutritionist recommended for me too for unflavored. Great way to add in more protein when you need.

The Protein waters are also a good option to get protein in. I like fruit punch so I enjoyed the Premier Protein fruit punch. They have soooo many brands and flavors that your likely to find me you like. I found them to be less sweet than the shakes which was great because the shakes tasted too sweet immediately post op.

Hello and a warm welcome. Try Hot Drinks, I found them easier to drink than cold in the winter months and I was feeling so cold. My go to was broth and sugar free blackcurrant cordial. You can add Protein Powder to them also.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
