Is UnJury worth it?

Recommended Posts

I just tried the strawberry in skim milk for my lunch. It is pretty good. I think I like it better in lemonade but I have to get my Calcium in somehow. I tried the unflavored in oatmeal but it gave it an odd consistency. I just need to experiement a little more with it. It came with a lot of interesting recipes that I want to try.

The best part is that you can stir it with a spoon and don't need a blender.

unjury can't be heated above 130 degrees or it will cook -- that is, it forms little rubbery pieces. Maybe that's what happened with your oatmeal? When I've used it in oatmeal, I prepare the oatmeal, add a little milk or SlimFast to cool it off (I check with a thermometer) and then add the Unjury. The texture didn't change at all that way.

I like the Unjury chocolate and unflavored the best. I have had so much of the chocolate on this liquid diet that I am getting tired of it but it is the best tasting Protein Shake I have found. The unflavored is awesome because you can't taste it at all. If you don't stir enough or put it in something too hot, it will form little chunks. I tried a samle of the chiken flavor and it was pretty good too. Very salty and a lot of garlic flavor. I think the best is unflavored though because you can put it in anything. Today, we had a Christmas dinner at Olive Garden at work. I took some unflavored powder in a ziploc and asked for strained Soup. I poured it in, mixed it up and BAM! 20 grams of Protein.< /p>

I used Unjury for pre and post-op, while I ate it at the time, can't stomach it now.

I now use Profect, it comes it a tube with 100cal and 25 grams of protien. There are about 12 different flavors, and you can get them mixed. You order directly from their web site. The are a little more expensive, but they have great taste, don't have to be refridgerated, can be store up to 120 degrees. I can't eat in the morning, so I drink one of them.

I like them, give it a try if you want.

Okay, I have an Unjury question. I made some chicken broth tonight. Impossible to get it mixed, so I put it in the blender. Then I just get chicken broth flavored foam. Not the best thing when I'm one day post op and quite gassy! AND, it still had clumps of powder in it! How can I get it smooth? I absolutely cannot stomach clumpy broth!

I always make sure that whatever I put Unjury in, it is only warm and not hot. If it clumps I just stir, stir, stir. A lot of the clumps will come out that way. Also, you can use your spoon to push the clumps against the side of your bowl and kind of squish them. As you do that and stir, they will disappear. That way, if you have a little patience, you haven't wasted it and you can still enjoy it.

unjury has a yucky smell and aftertaste. It makes me want to throw up just smelling it and I certainly cannot drink it. If you are sensitive to food smells, Unjury is not for you.

Thanks for the tip, I'm glad I didn't waste my money ordering any. I am sensitive to food smells, I haven't been able to find any Protein that I can drink except for the Isopure Zero Carb drinks. I was going to order some Unjury in hopes that it wouldn't be stinky to me, so I'm glad you posted.

The only smell I noticed was with the unflavored. You should go on Unjury's website and order some sample packets. They are only about $2.00 and that way you can test different ones. I wouldn't give up so easily. Unjury is worth it.

I just got a canned Protein drink (I usually can't stand them, but they're awfully convenient for on-the-go) from Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, books, DVDs & more called "ZOIC" in the belgian chocolate flavor and compared it to Slim Fast Lo Carb.

It was a little thinner consistency but didn't taste too bad at all --AND

(1) Only 110 calories for an 11 oz. can versus 190 for Slim Fast Lo Carb

(2) Has 1 gram of fat to Slim Fast Lo Carb 9 grams of fat,

(3) Has 5 grams of carbs to Slim Fast Lo Carb 6 grams,

(4) Has 21 grams of Protein to Slim Fast Lo Carb 20 grams.

I'm always on the lookout for the most nutritious now (unlike I did before) but I must say that I've strayed away from unjury (and I'm glad I didn't sign up for regular shipments!).

All I'll say is that you have to continue looking until you find the right one for you--because this is for the rest of our lives...;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
