I’m a healthcare professional. Kimmy is right, the thallium will be inserted via IV most likely into a large vein in the inner elbow (called the AC) or higher up in the arm.

Thanks for the medical assist queso 🙂

It’s crazy what insurance requires to prevent paying for this! I don’t have any requirements at all and the first time I get weighed is day of surgery

I am intrigued by how varied each insurance company and surgeon requirements are by reading what we all must do. I did have an appointment to weigh in at the bariatric center and to meet the surgeon and have my picture taken. So many start a liquid diet three weeks out or more, just 3 days for me. It's all kinda crazy.

My liquid diet is only 2 days since my bmi is so low.

I like to hear it is based on your BMI. My surgeon office approach is the same for all. I am sure there are exceptions and I did lose a lot of weight on my own before doing this so that may be why I wasn't asked to lose any additional weight. My BMI is 53. During our nutrition class, we were even told not to start doing the liquid diet any earlier because you needed to keep up your strength but just to make sure you were eating healthy.

Tomorrow starts my 1000 high Protein diet. I ate some favs this weekend and probably overdid it, but only for dinner. Stayed on track otherwise. Meals are all organized from now until I get home and through first couple of weeks. Sleeve surgery is April 6 th. Anyone else getting organized? Helps me mentally prepare too!

Hi, Kimmy!
You must be so excited!
I’m organizing in my head, and after Tuesday’s stress test, I will begin to really focus. Right now, I spent the weekend trying to stay at 40 BMI. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So of course, I lost a lb and am 5 lbs away. I’m not concerned about it though. It will all work out I’m sure.
Good luck to you!

Good to know! Thanks for the update. Glad you are past the caffeine withdrawal. I never drank tea or coffee and gave up Coca cola years ago, so once less thing to endure at least for me. Lol I'm counting down the days til surgery now. I have to have a COVID test on April 1st then laying low until the 6th. My surgery is scheduled for 9:45am. When is yours?

They haven't given me a time yet, i wont find out until the 5th what time i am due at the hospital, i am hoping early morning.

Congrats!! I’m 4/19 in the NYC suburbs. Curious what they told you about how long it will take you to feel comfortable enough to fly home after surgery?
I'm April 29.in Denison Texas. So excited. It is my goal to get this weight off me. I have been fat all my life . Lose the weight then it creeps back until it's twice the amount I lost. I am or will be 61 on April 23 and have diabetes high blood pressure asthma and COPD. I take 6shots a day for diabetes and 1 pill plus about 15 other meds. I tired of not being able to walk anymore or anything else. So this is really life changing for.me. 5'3 286 I'm having sleeve surgery.

Congrats! I just finished my zoom class with the others who are getting surgery from my surgeon within the next few weeks and it was very helpful. She said that those who take diabetes meds will never take them again once they leave the hospital so congrats on that also! I’m at 40 bmi with no co-morbidities per se but I want to get ahead of it. I have low energy, joint pain and get out of breathe easily. Not how I want to feel at 45 years old so I’m excited for this tool!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
