On 1/28 I had revision surgery going from VSG to a bypass due to feeling like I did not reach the goal that I wanted and was actually starting to regain. I am 13 days post op and feel no restriction. I mean none. When I first had the vsg surgery I felt restriction immediately even during the liquid phase but now it’s so different. I’ve even tried some solids maybe to see if I’m over reacting but still nothing. Anyone else has been through this ? I’m starting to worry.

I don’t have advice because my conversion is the 8th, but I wanted to reply so I could get notifications on your post. I’m wondering if it is more the malabsorption part that works after the conversion since we already have smaller than normal stomachs. I’m going to write it down to ask my surgeon. Good luck.

I’m going to be honest and tell you I had bypass and almost feel no restriction. I measured and weighed everything to make sure I was not overeating. At 4 months I listened to my body very very quietly and consistently to learn my new signals. If I hiccup or sneeze I have gone too far. It’s when I hear or feel a gentle rumble sensation that is the just right spot. I can miss it easily so to keep loosing weight I still have to portion and measure everything. I know I can maintain when I get to my goal, because I can listen. Really though, no restriction at 6 months, I can eat half a pizza easily and still gain weight. The weight loss truly comes from hard work only. I do feel like I have regained a sense of signals from my body. My old satisfied signal came at 45 minutes. Now it’s 20-35 minutes and I can sense it easier.

I'm not a revision patient - I had a "virgin" bypass - but I didn't feel restriction until I started eating solid food. That's not at all uncommon. So there's definitely a chance you might start feeling it soon...

I had a revision due to gerd and during the liquid and puree phase, I did not feel any restriction. Once I entered solid foods, I absolutely did and still do. I can not eat more than 2 ounces of Protein at a time and a little veggies/fruit, and it keeps me full for about 3-4 hours. I am a little over 6 months. I'm close to goal and the weight loss has been steady. It is a definite learning curve though. My "I'm satisfied" flag does not come up till 30 to 40 min later so I've learned to always measure my food beforehand to avoid anything uncomfortable later and to chew a lot.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
