JennyF 0 Posted February 7, 2022 I was sleeved on 1/28/2022, everything went good gas pain and pain right after but no other problems. I get home and feel like I have post pardom after having my kids. My heart raced, anxiety, didn't want my husband to go to work, and cried constantly. I ended up calling my therapist and getting something temporarily to get me through. I do feel better now buy still have those impending gloom and doom feelings. All, of what the what if I get a blood clots, what if this, what if that. Just curious if anyone else has dealt with this? Tia
GradyCat 3,695 Posted February 7, 2022 The surgery releases hormones, which can do a number on you. It's not permanent. It's temporary. Hang in there.
SleeverSk 635 Posted February 7, 2022 Sadly it's normal for a lot of people and something the surgeons don't warn us about. It's great you already have a therapist you will need them. I felt like this and worse for about 4 to 5 months I cried multiple times a day, but I got through it and you will too ❤❤ 1 Frogin. tx reacted to this
summerseeker 2,240 Posted February 7, 2022 Yes I did, massive buyers remorse. I chose this myself and what if it ruins the rest of my life ..... I am feeling better now that I am progressing onto real food and can look after myself. I was so wobbly that my husband had to take care of everything for 8 weeks. I see really good weight loss and that is so uplifting
ms.sss 15,719 Posted February 7, 2022 I think a portion of it has a lot to do with an individual’s recovery experience. When I has WLS is was totally fine, mentally. My recovery was uneventful and short (I was just mildly sore and got tired easily for a couple weeks). I had food aversion, but it didn’t bother me. I felt better than great. But when I had plastics a year later, my recovery was not as ideal (a lot of it was my own doing, but I digress), and I went through a good couple weeks of tears and feeling really bummed. So yeah, things may feel sucky right now, but it won’t always. I’m glad you have a therapist though…that will def help. Good Luck! ❤️ 1 Queen ApisM reacted to this
JDLane 140 Posted February 7, 2022 So I didn't have this reaction personally but I was warned about it during my behavioral evaluation appointments before surgery. It's apparently pretty common to have some emotional upset after surgery. The rapid weight loss can release hormones stored in fat and in general it's a big change in your life which can trigger stuff. It's great you already reached out for help, hopefully you find some balance soon!
ScarletteLace 1 Posted February 8, 2022 I’m 6 days post op and I had a very emotional day earlier. I was feeling so depressed and couldn’t stop crying. I guess I’m starting to miss the food I could eat. Yes I chose to have wls to get healthier but I can’t help feeling regretful about it. I hope I’ll feel better later. 1 Frogin. tx reacted to this

Guest Posted February 9, 2022 Organic chemicals, toxins, and hormones are all stored in your fat cells. When you lose weight they get dumped in your body, fast. This may be what you're experiencing. https://www.popsci.com/when-you-lose-weight-your-fat-cells-release-more-than-just-fat/

Your body will also be releasing fat soluble (though no Water soluble) Vitamins too, so supplements may be too much. I'm always the fan of blood assays before taking supplements or drugs, but they're too expensive.
suzannethemom 121 Posted February 10, 2022 From the website Clarity Surgical: Your mood is influenced by a wide array of factors. One of these factors is serotonin, a neurotransmitter produced by the brain. Because of the surgery, your diet becomes much more restrictive. This restrictive diet reduces the amount of carbohydrates you can take in, which causes serotonin levels to go down. Decreased serotonin can cause depressive symptoms. You may also deal with mood swings as a result of your low-carb diet. It’s important to note that if you’ve had a history of depression, you are at increased risk for post-bariatric depressive symptoms. 1 Kia kaha reacted to this
