GradyCat 3,695 Posted February 3, 2022 Today in my area we were predicted to have an ice storm, sleet, freezing rain, and snow. It hasn't happened yet just before noon but it is still predicted to come. So I had decided to stay home this morning and not go to the gym because I didn't want to drive on slick roads. No worries! I turned the news on and while the news is on, I do cardio: marching in place, squats, dancing, leg kicks, and knee lifts. While the commercials are on I pick up my 8 lb dumbbell and do bicep curls and rows. Between news segments I switch up what I'm doing. I made it a whole 30 minutes while watching the news, getting 30 minutes of exercise while not realizing I was doing it/while watching what was going on with local news and weather. Long story short, there's always an opportunity to exercise, even at home indoors, and I'm still determined to get my 10,000 steps in today no matter what. 2 Arabesque and lizonaplane reacted to this
lizonaplane 1,613 Posted February 3, 2022 We had 30 inches of snow here this past weekend, so I wasn't going out on Monday (I was in SF over the weekend so enjoyed some glorious walking on Saturday and lots of airplane time Sunday), but I have been doing lots of treadmill this week. I do it in ten minute increments, every time I get too cold. However, I've noticed that my hip pain is starting to come back like the last time I used my treadmill every day, so I might switch to stairstepping or marching in place. We have an indoor pool in my building, but it's so cold and dark when I'm not working! 1 GradyCat reacted to this

Your motivation is inspiring. 💪 Not too far from you, we are buried under snow. Got some extra exercise shoveling. I can think of 10,000 things I would rather do. 1 1 lizonaplane and GradyCat reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted February 4, 2022 there are a ton of great cardio walking/dance videos on youtube. I"ve been particularly hooked on "Reps to the Rhythm" videos for the last year or so. His are kind of a combo of walking and dance videos. He has videos of several different lengths (from 10 minutes up to 1.5 hours) and different levels of intensity. I do his intense ones (they're color-coded red, but a couple of his blue ones are also pretty intense) 1 lizonaplane reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,016 Posted February 4, 2022 Good for you getting creative. I just walk back and forth in the house when it’s too hot to go outside and walk (which is most of the time). At least it’s something but I could stand to follow your lead and change it up. 1 lizonaplane reacted to this
