My grandma is In hospice so we are pulling shifts making sure someone is with her 24/7. I have gone ONE WEEK without tracking and I have gained TWO POUNDS!! I haven’t had anything crazy bad just a few more servings of the same foods and Snacks I have been eating. I know that I should be able to lose it but wow- that was way too easy to gain.

unless you ate an extra 7000 calories above and beyond what your body needs (3500 calories = 1 pound), it's likely Water retention (from excess sodium) or full intestines (maybe you ate more Fiber than usual?). If so, it'll be gone in a day or two.

Sorry to hear about your grandma — that must be rough. I wouldn’t worry about 2 pounds; my weight often fluctuates more than that in a single day. By now, you’ve most likely developed healthy habits and as long as you don’t stray too far from that path, going a week (or a few weeks) without tracking should not derail your weight loss.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. I will be praying for her and your family. Don't worry about the weight right now. It's stress weight. You've got more important things to deal with at the moment. Take care.

First of all, I'm so sorry for the difficult situation. It is a truly heartbreaking road to walk, and our hearts are with you. Second, @catwoman7 is spot on here. Its VERY unlikely to be 2 pounds of true weight gain. So give yourself lots of grace to navigate this season, and turn your attention back to your weight when your mental energy allows.

Thank you all for the well wishes and the prayers. A room just opened up at the hospice house and the staff there is truly AMAZING. They have been able to put her in positions that she just looks so comfortable and peaceful. Something that she hasn’t seemed even with the morphine for the last several days. Thanks for helping ease my mind about the weight. It’s funny cause if anyone else posted a similar concern I would be saying the same thing that it’s not likely to be a true gain in that short amount of time but when it’s your scale that goes up it’s just scary. But now I get it. I tried talking to my always been skinny cousin about it but she didn’t get it at all. I have been terrified since the start that I will be one that gains it all back and those two pounds just brought out that fear in me. Now if I can just keep resisting those fresh baked Cookies at the hospice house I will probably be okay. 😉

Such a difficult time for you @ShoppGirl but am pleased you are gaining some comfort from the care & support of the hospice staff. I remember knowing that the staff cared equally as much about my dad as we did when he was dying was immensely comforting to my family.

Don’t worry too much about those couple of pounds. Your life & routines are pretty upside down at the moment. Your emotional distress won’t be helping either. I know it’s scary when you see that higher number (I’m experiencing it now about a couple of Christmas pounds. Don’t like it & want them gone.) Always skinny people never understand how 2 pounds can demoralise us so much. But I expect this is just a temporary gain/fluctuation because of these sad circumstances.

All the best.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
