suzannethemom 121 Posted January 27, 2022 Yesterday was my first appointment at Ridgeview Bariatric Center. I met with a nurse first and then the surgeon. I can’t believe I got to meet with the surgeon on the first appointment. Is that normal? The surgeon was really impressive, informative and encouraging. I left with a binder loaded with all the information I need (pre-op plan and checklist, surgery overview, post-op plans for diet and exercise with log charts, meal plans, recipes and more). They did blood work before I left. I drove home feeling so happy and hopeful (I might have shed a few tears). Today the nurse called me to schedule appointments with a dietician, psychologist and exercise physiologist. I don’t want to get too excited because I know things can go wrong at any step along the way (with the psych eval, testing and insurance approval). Right now I’m feeling really optimistic. 2 cheryl o and GreenTealael reacted to this

catwoman7 11,221 Posted January 27, 2022 I think I met with the surgeon at my first appointment as well. And the next time I saw him was the morning of surgery - although I worked with the rest of the clinic staff A LOT between those two appointments!
suzannethemom 121 Posted January 27, 2022 Catwoman, I think it’s a similar plan for me. I just scheduled appointments with the dietitian (two visits), psychologist (two visits), exercise physiologist (one visit) and testing. I won’t see the surgeon again until the pre-op visit. ShoppGirl 5,024 Posted January 27, 2022 Yea I met with the NP and the surgeon the first time and then I didn’t see him again until my pre op appointment. Great they gave you the binder already so you have time to really go over it and get organized (ask questions, etc). Good luck on your journey.

It really does make a difference.Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app
suzannethemom 121 Posted January 30, 2022 I’m kinda wondering why my surgeon ordered an upper GI instead of an endoscopy. I have to drive 45 minutes for the procedure because nobody does them in my area (sigh).
