I live in Burnsville, Minnesota and was wondering if anyone else lives in Minnesota. If so, which weight loss center are you going to? I am going to Ridgeview Weight Loss Center.

I have severe GERD also, which is why I chose RNY gastric bypass. I don’t have a surgery date yet. I have 5 appointments scheduled in the next two weeks (dietitian, exercise PT, Psych eval, upper GI). You’re so lucky to get the mayo Clinic. I’m nervous that as I’m getting all these important steps done, the hospital decides to pause elective surgeries. I just heard that Allina canceled WLS for three months!

Wow! I knew that they blocked visitors but missed that Allina cancelled all weight loss surgeries. I went through the Allina weight management program a couple years ago but switched to Park Nicollet a year ago.

Hi there from AV. I am going to Park Nicollet. ^_^ I am still pre-op and hoping to hear good news this week to advance to all green lights for surgery. Are you excited? Nervous?

Me too! My final appointment is Thursday with the dietitian. Once she signs off, my paperwork goes to my insurance company for pre-approval. I am so nervous! I ordered some Protein Powder today since Target was almost completely out. I felt weird placing the order, like it was too soon, but I want to be prepared. Now I can tell the dietitian that I have almost everything and I am ready!

I was also freaked out about the pre op diet. I think I was just so eager to get the surgery that I knew that it was close doing this diet that I pushed through.

I do have to say the first 2 days were bad I woke up from surgery with lots of gas pressure..walking did help but it would build back up.so I did alot of walking and sitting upright. I slept in the chair they had in the hospital. Then in our reciner at home.

Do u have a date at all?

Sadly I dont yet. I am waiting on my support letters to be given from my psychologists to my bariatric doctor.

Did you need a lot of help during your recovery? Did you have drains at all when you came home? Did you have a Protein Shake preference? premier seems to be a favorite for many I've noticed. Did you go back to work right away? How long did you stay off work if you didn't?

Sorry I'm asking so much. I watched videos on youtube and nothing seems to really prep me enough for all of this. I figured I would ask since we are in the same program. Thanks for all the info.

No, I was ok . Very tired and sore but It was tolerable. No drains for me. That might be for bypass I had the sleeve.

My husband took only I day off and I was ok. I didn't do stairs. Alot of sleeping and walking and of course trying to get liquids in.

I have a high energy job so I took 5 weeks off and I was good going back. It took alot out of me the first couple days back.

I love premeir Protein. I had to Water them down after surgery but they have so many flavors that you don't get too bored. All flavors except the peanut butter( I didn't like that one ) were really good. No problem asking questions. I had so many also

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
