soozett22 1 Posted January 22, 2022 How do we feel about drinking with meal when said meal is Soup? I mean it’s already food mixed in liquid that we’re eating ?? I don’t do it but while eating one of my friends asked me WHY I couldn’t drink while eating soup and It left me wondering as well… 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
philannony 3 Posted January 22, 2022 Because we are trying to focus on getting all the appropriate macronutrients, and not fill up on our drink.
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 23, 2022 Because the liquid from the drink fills up your stomach, and then the nutrients from the food don't get a chance to get in there and stay there and be absorbed because the liquid pushes it through. Something like that.
ShoppGirl 5,024 Posted January 23, 2022 I would assume the others are on the right track. The Water would just dilute the nutrients from the food and leave less room for the nutritious food.

I’m 3+ years post op and i still have to eat soup in stages: first slurp up all the liquid/broth, then I eat all the solid bits. If I don’t, i’m guaranteed to get super full, super fast and likely barf. BUT…I’ve read of folks on here who have no issue having soup with liquid and solid at same time. Best way to find out is to try. But go slow if you tend to be a barfer like me! Good Luck! ❤️ 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,439 Posted January 24, 2022 Oh wow I just realized I don’t even eat Soup with solids in it anymore. I am either eating stew or drinking broth! 15 hours ago, ms.sss said: Ah soup, how i miss eating it the “normal” way. And, what everyone else said.
