Jennifer ortiz 6 Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) Reverse gastric bypass. Has anyone done it before or even thought of doing it. My surgery was December 6 2021. On January 6 was a month of my surgery. I have lost more pounds 30 pounds in total to be exact . But however I continue to be unhappy with my surgery. I was thinking of reverse gastric bypass surgery. I'm tired of not be able to enjoy foods anymore. I don't know what to eat. Everything makes me want to throw up. I feel sick and dizzy all the time and low on energy. I hate every single Protein Shakes the taste is gross. I'm really thinking of talking to my doctor to have reverse gastric bypass. I want my life back my normal life back. I wish everyone the best with the surgery and hope everyone has wonderful results. liveaboard15 1,293 Posted January 9, 2022 DONT GIVE UP... you just had surgery. Gotta give it time to heal and get things back to normal. you will be able to eat some of the foods you enjoyed before but much smaller portions but you gotta give it time. This is a process. Not a quick fix. 1 1 Jennifer ortiz and Summermoose reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,024 Posted January 9, 2022 Have you talked to your surgeon and told them you are having such a hard time? I didn’t have any issues so I can’t be sure but it seems like some people on here have bad similar issues that resolved eventually. If I were you I would reach out to your team and hopefully some others with similar experience will reply and offer helpful tips. If you don’t like the shakes because they are too sweet try premiere Protein caffe latte. It was the only one I could stand early on because the rest tasted too sweet to me. Just know that it does contain caffeine. 1 OutdoorsGirl reacted to this
catwoman7 11,221 Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) they usually don't do reversals unless you're having serious medical issues that can't be resolved any other way. talk to your surgeon. They may be able to suggest or prescribe things that help. Plus like others have said, you're still very early out. A lot of this will clear up in the near future. The first few weeks can be tough, but then it gets a lot easier. I honestly don't notice a difference anymore - other than my stomach doesn't hold nearly as much food as it used to. DaisyAndSunshine 303 Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) I don't thi!k you should get discouraged just yet. Like others mentioned speak to your medical team about the concerns you're having. I didn't have much side effects of the surgery but 1st month was definitely difficult in terms of energy. I didn't even have energy to walk few mins on a treadmill which has gotten so much better now 6 weeks post-Op. Now I can easily do 30 to 35 mins. Even now though, there are some days which are easily fatigued than others. I am sure as time passes, it'll go away too. Plus as you progress, you should be able to tolerate various foods. I have tried other foods, and I haven't gotten dumping yet. So I am sure down the line, we should be able to enjoy our favorites, ofc in limit. As for gross tasting Protein, try other brands. And even if those don't work, try to get protein from wholesome foods. On my program, we aren't allowed protein powders or any processed protein. We are told to consume protein from food. I am also vegetarian, so my options are mostly dairy products. And I still make my goal of 70 to 80 grams of protein. So protein powders aren't the only means. Try Greek yogurt or even better *ice landing yogurt*. Both easily available at grocery stores. Ice landing yogurt has 15 grams of protein on 0.5 cup. I can have about 1 cup a day (split) and easy 30 grams in. Then therea are various cheeses, cottage cheese, milk, lentils, Beans etc. So many options out there for protein alternative. Good Luck with your journey. Edited January 9, 2022 by DaisyAndSunshine 1 vikingbeast reacted to this
vikingbeast 987 Posted January 10, 2022 Icelandic yoghurt is also called skyr, and it is absolutely the perfect food for a weight loss surgery patient—high Protein, low carb, and low fat. 2 1 DaisyAndSunshine, lizonaplane and Jennifer ortiz reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 10, 2022 It's too soon for you to make this major of a decision. You're just 30 days post-op. Talk to the counselor at your surgeon's office to discuss your difficulty transitioning to this new lifestyle. It's an adjustment. Give it some time. 1 OutdoorsGirl reacted to this
lizonaplane 1,613 Posted January 10, 2022 I feel your struggle. I had sleeve but even 4 months out I struggle with nausea. I've found that if I eat more slowly, it's better. Although the Multivitamin still makes me nauseous. I was tired for a while after surgery too. Make sure you're getting your Vitamins and fluids in, as that will help with the tiredness and maybe the dizziness (I still struggle with dizziness, but I have always had low blood pressure). If you are taking blood pressure medication you might talk to your doctor to see if your BP is no longer elevated and they might suggest a lower dose. Don't give up! 1 1 learn2cook and Jennifer ortiz reacted to this
Bluebonnetgirl 63 Posted January 15, 2022 I agree with everyone else. One month out is too soon to think about a reversal. I experienced "buyer's regret" at first. Your mind has to adjust. food didn't seem to hold the same appeal and I still don't get the same pleasure from it, but I have adjusted and am so glad I had the surgery. Food doesn't rule my life anymore, I am finding new ways to get that pleasurable feeling. Food is for fuel. I have discovered there is so much more to life and living than food! But boy did it make me sad and mad and regretful at first. Ride it out a little longer, give your mind time to adjust and then see how you feel! 1 MissT25 reacted to this
sindibee 0 Posted January 16, 2022 I've found that Fairlife Protein Shakes are good but I also like the gatorade zero with Protein. That one counts as Water and protein!Sent from my SM-G986U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
