Hi all,

My RNY is scheduled for 2/24/22 assuming elective surgeries continue (they were postponed in January but my date was not affected and I was able to have my endoscopy this morning). I start the milk diet on Thursday the 10th. From what I understand this is something that is more common in the UK but I am in the US.

I am getting excited but nervous!

I done the milk diet for 2 weeks pre op, lost 16lb and had a headache the whole time despite drinking 3L of Water but I just kept reminding myself why and my goals and it made it bearable. Good luck 😉

Well, had my pre-op visit with my surgeon and pre-admission testing done today. This is it! I told the dr. that I was feeling frustrated and like I'm not following the diet instructions because I've hardly lost any weight (6 lbs) in 1 week and he reassured me that the idea is for the liver to shrink, it's not for me to lose weight, so that made me feel a whole lot better. They also gave me the name of some vitamin patches (which I can't remember right now 🤔) that they want me to use for the first month so I'm ordering those today. I need to arrive at the hospital by 5:30am and confirmed I am his first case so I joked with the nurse when I told her, well that's good! He will have had a good night's sleep so he'll be fresh and ready to start with me haha!! 8 more days to go! 😀

Nice! I also had my pre op and pre admissions appointment today. I spent 5 hours in the hospital haha but worth it.
It's day 7 on my pre op diet. Don't beat yourself up about weight loss. It'll happen post op and you'll be plenty pleased. Be proud of yourself for making it this far! Congrats and glad to be your Feb surgery buddy! :)

Good luck to you! I'm scheduled for the sleeve on Feb 23rd in LA. I haven't lost any weight but a couple of pounds. I lose 1/2 pound a month. Ugh. Love the picture of Huskys. I have a German Sheppard, my son has half husky, half GS beautiful dog.

Hello
I’m scheduled for the 17th of this month. And have started my preop diet. I’m both excited and nervous. My surgeon has been readily available to answer my questions. He’s even had all my prescriptions called in and I’ve picked them up.
Did anyone else get a prescription to take the night before your procedure? I got aprepitamt this helps to avoid nausea.

No but they put a patch behind my ear before the procedure for nausea. I’m sure it’s the similar idea to try and get ahead of it.

My surgery is on monday. I can see in my online chart they've ordered meds for me for while I'm in the hospital. Nothing to take the day before. They ordered a nausea patch for the anesthesia.

My surgery was this morning. What helps to get rid of chest pain and gas?

Walking is really the best thing you can do for the gas pain.

Hello All,

My RNY surgery is scheduled for 2/25 and I am a bit anxious yet excited to get on with this new life journey! I'm in the process of meal planning/prepping for the the pre-op and post-op diet to be as prepared and successful as I can be.

I have my last pre-surgery dietician appointment on 2/16. It's always helpful to gather helpful information and tips from those that have gone before you. So, if there is anything that you all feel would be helpful, as far as pre-op, post-op, day of surgery tips, after surgery suggestions, Vitamin recommendations, pain relief suggestions, or any other thing you can think of...I would love to hear about it. 😉

Thanks in advance!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
