DecemberRain18 6 Posted January 12, 2022 Feb 2 VSG in Texas. My program doesn't require a liquid diet so I start my liver shrinking low carb diet the 19th. I'm working on cutting out caffeine before surgery and just getting my supplies ordered and ready so I don't have to worry about it post-op 2 1 Bariover54, Percheronfan and MeganMyers reacted to this
MeganMyers 32 Posted January 12, 2022 I have not been told to use an abdominal binder. I probably won’t. @freckledMegan it sounds like you are prepared. The ProteinO2 surprises me. They are delicious. I also drink the Premier Protein shakes and have some unflavored Protein Powder to add when needed. 2 Percheronfan and Bariover54 reacted to this

Our tastes often change post surgery, especially for sweet things such as Protein Shakes. I ended up haven’t a couple cases of shakes that I couldn’t stand post surgery. 1 Bariover54 reacted to this

Oh I'm not going nuts, just like 30 days of the Multivitamins (chewable), the Calcium tabs, stuff like that, that I know will absolutely slip my mind if I don't get them now. I haven't ordered any Protein yet, I know I want to get a few of those Protein Shots for right after surgery then I'll probably just try stuff and see what I like from whatever I can find locally. I do appreciate you looking out tho!! 1 Bariover54 reacted to this

I don’t know if they ever added the caffe latte to the variety pack but it’s really good if you like coffee drinks (it has caffeine in it).

I'll definitely have to try that variety pack for my low carb diet before surgery! Get a feel for what I like more. I shop at Sam's club and they have cases of the premier shakes but I don't want to commit to anything in bulk until I know what works after surgery. 1 freckledmegan reacted to this

It helped me feel more optimistic about food post-recovery. I'm going to try some of the recipes before surgery to know what I like now and not when I'm hangry. Great idea! I am definitely not a cook, but I understand that has to change ASAP. I found one for sleeve patients by the same author and will start on it today.

I'm having my surgery done through my insurance provider, and they're sending me home with a binder. I'll give it a shot and see if it's helpful. 4 freckledmegan, Bariover54, MeganMyers and 1 other reacted to this

Hot Mess Bypass 8 Posted January 15, 2022 I'm getting the bypass on Feb. 21st. I'm also concerned that it could end up being pushed back. I've been preparing for months, which also means I've stopped taking a medicine for my psoriatic arthritis and it's getting very difficult. I've lost 20 lbs. though. I'm mostly off of caffeine and carbonation (I've had it on occasion, but very rarely- it's just not part of my daily life any more). I don't cook, so I still struggle with what I'm eating. I just have a few go to foods and eat a lot less. i need a better meal plan. I'm well stocked with Protein drinks/powders/waters that have helped me though. 3 MeganMyers, noladawn and Bariover54 reacted to this

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, we take a lot of the same meds as PA peeps. I’m curious as to what they’ve had you stop taking. My meds have all been okayed.
