I'm exhausted. The water is killing me...

Recommended Posts

With all this Water we are supposed to be drinking, I'm getting up twice during the night to pee. I have a hard time sleeping anyway, and if I'm finally getting some decent rest, getting up to pee really pisses me off. If I get up from 3:30 on, which I usually do, I don't fall back to sleep. I'm really tired at work. Suggestions? I drink a half hour after I eat dinner, but only a little. I don't drink past 8:00 and usually go to bed around 9:30 or 10:00.

Maybe try drinking less and less from your cut off point. For example, try not drinking past 7pm.. if that doesn't work, go to 6pm, etc. And make sure you go pee before you go to bed, even if you don't think you have to.

Aubrie,

I feel like I am a veteran of hundreds of attempts to "start drinking more water" over my lifetime. My experience is that the constant peeing tapers off significantly once your body gets used to the new Water supply. It was explained to me once that your body hoards Water when it doesn't get a regular supply. Once you start drinking a lot, the excess water flushes out (which is why you seem to be peeing more than you are taking in). Eventually, you establish equilibrium and can sleep through the night. Hang in there.

I don't know anything about how the Water works going through..

I do recall some nights I woke up in the middle of the night with a full bladder, but it has been a while. I normally just have to explode when I wake up for work.

I work at night, get home and fall asleep around 7:30am-8am. I have to force myself to stop drinking ANYTHING at about 3am. So anywhere from 4 1/2 to 5 hours prior to bed time, I don't drink. That is the only cut-off point I have been able to find that hasn't made me get up at least once to go to the bathroom. I just make sure to drink more of my liquids early in my day. For instance, I try to get at least 44 of my 64 ounces before midnight so I'm not rushing to get it all in between midnight and 3am.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
