Please Tell Me This Gets Better

Recommended Posts

I am 5 weeks post op from being sleeved. I am having some mental issues about this but I am working thru them with the help of my PCP. What's really bothering me right now is my sense of smell and taste is so off and bad that any thing smells and tastes horrible I start gagging and can't get it down, except for a few cheeses and maybe a scrambled egg. Even those things are barely palatable. I went to a relatives house tonight for a party and couldn't stay in there because of the food smells. I went and sat in the car and cried. Please tell me this gets better with time. I have wanted this surgery for over a decade. I researched to where I thought i knew all the pros and cons. I guess I didn't research it enough. I wanted this to better my life for myself, my kids and my family. I pray this gets better. At this point I feel like I made a lifetime mistake. I just pray that this gets better with time

I sure hope so. My hubby has taken over all cooking in the house and if him or anyone else Cooks, I have to go to the back of the house, shut the door and open a window. I feel like an outsider to my family. I knew I wouldn't be able to eat "real food" for a long while but I can't even sit with them while they eat because I get sick. This is heart breaking for me!

Yes, hang in there! I was throwing up for two months, and then over the course of a few days it got less and less, and then stopped. After that, I was able to start adding in new foods it has been pretty peachy ever since. Keep trying new things. For me, the first thing that worked was salty chicken noodle Soup from a fast food place (minus the noodles). It gets way better!

Thanks for the words of encouragement.
