Slimming_Santos 1 Posted December 29, 2021 Hi, food anyone NOT have a pre-op diet? My surgery is 1.18, RNY. pre-op is 1.12, but I have no pre-op diet. I'm ok with that, but I'm also thinking about the TMI stuff. Getting constipated from food, maybe cleansing my system? I stopped coffee and caffeine, but I'm just wondering who didn't have a pre-op diet, and if you did try to do something? I was thinking shakes, high Protein and start cutting carbs, only to make it easier on myself?Thoughts? ShoppGirl 5,009 Posted December 29, 2021 There are others out there who didn’t have to do a pre op. Some did one on their own. You could use that time to detox from sugar and carbs and make it that much easier on yourself post surgery. 1 Arabesque reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted December 29, 2021 not all surgeons require a pre-op diet. Most do, but not all. Personally, I'd be thankful for that if I were you. Some of those diets are TOUGH. I thought it was the worst part of the whole ordeal. I was actually relieved the morning they rolled me into surgery...
MistySkye 181 Posted January 1, 2022 No pre-op other than clear fluids for two days before. They did suggest stopping caffeine prior to surgery. So I did that about a week before. I think starting weight can play in too it as the Clinic I went to does have patients do Optifast, but I did not have to. My starting BMI was just above 36. lizonaplane 1,613 Posted January 10, 2022 I know of others who didn't have a pre-op diet, and my preop diet was just low carb high Protein, not shakes. Like others said, you will have a long time without "real" food after surgery, so I wouldn't spend more time limiting your eating. (I LOVED salads pre-op, but now I can't eat them!!)
