It is post-op day 8 for me and until today I have been in the best mood! Today is another story.....I am having PMS and haven't had a period in 3 years (one of menopause's benefits :nervous). I am eating mushies with the good feeling of fullness, my husband is super, nothing has changed since yesterday......I searched the forum and read other posts about the blues - most of them were from people still on liquids. I have eaten real food for the past 2 days, so that isn't the cause. Oh, well.....let me hear from you if this has been your experience; and what did you do about it if anything? Sometimes ya just gotta wait it out. :rain:

Hey,

I got banded today so IM still pretty out of it. I havent felt bad or depressed at all and hope I dont. But if it helps, please keep in mind that you are not alone. You made the right descion and givne time you will be back to your normal self.

If you have a chance, maybe spoil yourself with a new pair of shoes or a funny DVD or somthing. A funny movie works for me most of the time when Im in a funk.

Everythings going to be alright.

i had surgery on 12/4 and i must say, though i dont feel that depressed, i am tearful at times. i heard some where that with any kind of surgery, some depression can set in, it is kinda like a side effect. dont quote me but that is what i heard.

I think what keeps entering my mind the most is that I have altered my body for life! Its a thought that has come to mind a few times now. But, I ease that concern because I think, "Hey, you have tattoos that will never ever come off, atleast with the band I have have it removed if I have to."

It helps me knowing its 100% reversable for some reason.

you know i really get what you are saying here. i have thought it too, and even used the tatoo thing to justify. all i can say that the next thing is that almost everyone who has been successful with the lap band have said they would never change it for anything. i am feeling almost normal right now since the surgery. (except for of course, not being able to eat anything solid) so i think, everything will go back to normal and the lap band and recovery of the surgery wont be the total focus of my life as it has been so far. thanks kingjes for putting that into words like you did.

I have been a little blue the last few days. I think it is mostly because it has rained here for days and shows no sign of stoping. Also I think I am missing my old friend food. Learning to live a new healthly life style takes some getting used to. But I am making progress. Welcome to bandland Jess!! Donna

Thanks, everyone for your feedback. I did get out of the house yesterday afternoon and felt immediately better. In Texas it is cold and rainy, but liveable (unlike some areas of the country). You will love eating your first real food! I am 9 days out and had tuna salad yesterday. I don't usually like it, but wow, was it good! So I think cabin fever and post anesthesia hangover were to blame. :bandit

Thats good news, Iim glad your feeling better. I still hung over and got a few gas pains kicing in. I would say I was up every 2 hours last night trying pee. I guess a side effect of the meds is that it makes it hard to pee.

My left shoulder is where the most of the gas pain is and my tummy is a bit bloated but I think that might be from the GAX X strips I have been using to ease the gas pains.

Im still pretty sleepy but I hope after today I can switch to the liquid tylonal I got rather then the other stuff the doc gave me. I think that stuff is vicoden or somthing but in liquid form.

Anyway, Im glad your felling better!

Jes-I'm feelin ya on the Whopper thing. I was banded 12/04 and have been craving a cheesburger like no one's business! I don't know why but I really want a cheesburger. I'm glad we are talking about the blues. I have been really up and down since my surgery. Mostly down. I have this thought like "You will never be able to eat socially again" and "Forget about holidays, they will never be as much fun". I know these thoughts are irrational but that is what i have been feeling. I also fought with my insurance and I prayed to god for this surgery. It took me a year to get here and now I am just down in the dumps. I get to go to muchies on Tuesday so I am thinking that will help my mood. Right now, it just seems like there is no light at the end of my tunnel :)

Well, if it helps at all Im still on liquids. chicken broth, beef broth and veggi broth.... hmmmm yummy! hahah not quite the meals Im used to but I know I will be in better shape and set a better example for my son. My mother and father were both obese so I got my eatting habits from them.

I quit chewing Copenhagen Snuff on Feb 28th 2007 to set a better example for my son and now I have to lose some weight and relearn my eatting habits for him too. I have to lead by example and I know its up to me to break the chain and stop the cycle that has plauged my family for generations.

The holidays are always a stressfull time regardless of getting the Lapband for me but I know this and just knowing helps me out ya know. Even better is knowing that other people get in a funk too over the same stuff. Just knowing your not alone is always helpful!

Hang in there and remember atleast its reversable as a last resort.

TX Bandit:

I think I was getting depressed because I missed large quantities of delicious food. I still do sometimes. Then I think about the pounds I've lost and usually it goes away quickly. Sometimes if I go outside walking it helps too.

Good luck.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
