Treadmill recommendations

Recommended Posts

I don't know much about treadmills, and looking to get one when the weather gets bad. I know there are fancy ones like Woodway, but I am not looking to spend that kind of money. And what about used ones? Any thoughts and recommendations?

give us a budget to help better, woodyways are niceeee, i do prefer running outside in all honesty. Rain, sun, sub zero.. nothing beats an outside run and i find a treadmill really beats the knees

Can i suggest maybe joining a gym and using treadmill how you hope to use it at home, you'll probably prefer a cross trainer..

I did not want to spend a lot of money but wanted a good brand. I went with the Horizon T303. The 101 or 202 would have been find too as I don't tend to use the bells and whistles. I use it with the walk/run (I walk) workouts on Apple Fitness+ in winter.

After doing a lot of research, i bought Horizon 101 from Amazon, $649.99 plus tax. I was also planning to use it in cold weather, meanwhile i go to gym.

I did spend a few thousand dollars on a treadmill. It's very steady and that's really important to me. Also, they delivered it and set it up for me. I am not mechanically inclined.

1. You get what you pay for, although I wouldn't get a peloton because then you're just getting a name that's trendy (although my friend loves her peloton bike because she enjoys the classes)

2. Make sure the treadmill has at least a 50lb cushion between your highest (or current) weight and the weight limit of the treadmill.

3. Make sure you get a pad for underneath if you plan to put it above another room or you live in an apartment. It will help lower the sound, especially when you are heavier and also if you are jogging/running

4. Put it in front of a TV if possible if you find exercise like the treadmill dull, because otherwise you're likely to just stop out of boredom

I purchased a Pro-form Elliptical ( I know, not a treadmill) that I am happy with. They are the generic version of NordicTrack.

Wish I had a recommendation but shortly after surgery I got a used one off FB Marketplace for $50. I used it when I can't get outside due to weather. So, it was well worth it. And since I seem to mostly walk outside, I'm glad I didn't do like I originally planned and spend hundreds or more on a new one since I use it so infrequently.

I found one on Amazon that is designed to be used under a desk. The arms fold down and it can be slid under a bed if necessary. Which is nice in my tiny house. It’s not super easy so I just do it when I am wanting the house to be really neat. I only spent about $300. It’s a little more now. I have had it for a few years now and it serves the purpose. The two downsides are the weight limit which I think was 250 and the fact that you can’t do inclines but these were not deal breakers for me.

ShoppGirl that's the one I was originally looking at before deciding on the used one. The weight limit is part of the reason why I also didn't buy it originally. At the time I was looking at it I exceeded the limit by like 50lbs!

I prefer a light-industrial to gym-grade quality piece of fitness equipment. I'd say around $2,000 should get you something really good and durable for home use.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
