Follow your gut and find someone else. My surgeon meets with all her patient's multiple times before surgery. A week before surgery I'll see her for an hour long appointment. I had her do my VSG and she's doing my revision due to GERD. She's still having me do the big hour long appointment. Thank you for all the replies and I agree with this. I have another appointment schedule with new doctor in January. Office was so nice, doesn’t require referral, and said I see the actual doctor several times, especially the first time. I’m feeling a little better now and not like I’ve just cut my foot off 1 gabbykittyvsg reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 9, 2022 I don't think you'd have to start from scratch, but I hear your concern. It was important to me to personally meet the person that was going to be operating on me, get to know her a little, ask her about her success rate, etc. She met with me twice pre-op and took as much time as I need and answered as many questions as I asked. She was very kind. You might want to select a different surgeon, which might delay you a little bit but won't make you start all over again.

Everything went great! New surgeon is amazing, very personable but also knowledgeable. As far as he’s concerned I don’t have to repeat anything. I do have to take their preop class/nutrition things and support group but that’s it. The hospital isn’t allowing in person meetings for that until March so I’m at least waiting that long. They said my insurance may require my 6 months to be done with the surgeon performing the surgery, in which case I do have to do the 6 additional months of weigh ins. He said he was going to submit it all anyway and see what happens. Still waiting for my psych evaluation to be sent. Apparently there are additional restrictions on those types of medical records. Hoping they send, if not I will have to repeat that. Thanks for asking! Honestly I’m glad this happened now. I think I needed more time to prepare, make more lifestyle adjustments and really get my head around this. 3 blackcatsandbaddecisions, suzannethemom and gabbykittyvsg reacted to this
