ShannonCorbin 11 Posted December 16, 2021 Surgery was Monday 12/13. Today is Wednesday 12/15. I feel like I got hit by a truck. I had a hiatal hernia repair and tightening of my pouch and stoma. I can’t keep anything thicker than Water down and that includes liquid pain medication. I did not have this problem first time around. Is it just swelling or did he make it too small? summerseeker 2,236 Posted December 16, 2021 Its sounds like a swelling, if so it will get a little better every day. You have had a huge amount of surgery, contact your team They need to find a way for you to take your pain relief.
Arabesque 7,414 Posted December 16, 2021 You just had pretty major surgery. Your insides have been pushed, prodded, rearranged & cut. You’ve been pumped full of gas to expand your abdomen so they can see what they’re doing & fluids. You’ll have lots of swelling too. Unfortunately pain is to be expected. But this doesn’t mean you have to just endure it. If you’re struggling to swallow or keep down your pain meds & are experiencing pain ask for an alternative method of giving you pain relief like an injection, patch, through your drip… The pain does reduce but you had a lot done so it may take longer than others who had a less arduous surgery. All the best.

ShannonCorbin 11 Posted December 16, 2021 I took maters into my own hands last night - I had some norco in the house from a previous orthopedic surgery. I took one of them and split it in half, taking each half 15 minutes apart. It helped a lot. So far I have kept 1oz Protein down for an hour. Taking it slow. Thanks for all the support. 1 summerseeker reacted to this

I just had revision as well 12/21 and was told my pouch was not the size of an egg but now was the size of a thumb. Due previous damage from GERD Ulcers and Hiatle Hernia. First weel was extremely painful I'm on day
