Okay, this question is for my ladies.

I have PCOS and 1 ovary I talked to my endroconlogist and he told me that it is still possible to get pregnant with my 1 ovary I had another appointment with my main endo and, she put me on Norethindrone 0.35 TAB and I was just wondering what other steps can I take to not get pregnant after my sleeve surgery?

I would say that you and your body are going through a lot right now. Time for any partners to step up and wear a condom.

No method is full proof ( except abstinence 😉) but I agree with @ClareLynn: double up on the contraceptives with both of you taking precautions. Maybe try an implant vs an oral med in case of vomiting & how & where your pill is absorbed. Better safe than sorry.

I started taking birth control pills the week before my surgery. I had gastric bypass 2.5 weeks ago. I am thinking of switching to the arm implant because of the malabsorption for gastric bypass. I don’t know if I can trust my husband to exit the premises at the right time. Lol!!!!

Many bariatric doctors recommend implants or IUDs. Until then, use condoms in addition to your BC pills.

The same steps to take even if u didn’t have WLS : condoms, BC pills/patches, UID, vasectomy/tubal ligation, abstinence. Or any combination of the aforementioned.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
