TAKE πŸ‘πŸ» THE πŸ‘πŸ» PHOTOS πŸ‘πŸ»

Recommended Posts

Taking the before picture is hard, but so so important. I don’t see my own progress month to month but when I look back at the beginning, all of a sudden I can see where some of my (almost) 50lbs has disappeared from.

Stick with it, we’ve got this! πŸ’ͺ🏻

I’m 5’4” and had a VSG on 9/13. My highest weight was 242 and my weight on the day of surgery was 230lbs.

Oh wow, what a difference! You look fantastic.

This reminds me - I took some photos the night before my surgery - I really need to update those. Won't be sharing them here though, sorry! Not yet anyway. 🀣

I had my husband take photos of all three sides of me once a month on my surgery date until I hit maintenance 20 months later. I'm SO glad I have those photos! GooseyGirl is correct - you don't always see the difference month to month, but you can by comparing photos to ones that were taken three or four months earlier. Plus I love having the photo documentation of my journey!

You look amazing! What great progress. Congrats!

I second what you said about taking the photos. I have been in a stall, but finally took a new set of pics and wow I could tell the difference 4 months out, and in some unexpected places! For those who don't want to do near naked pics, wear something really form fitting (ideally in colors/patterns that don't distort things/distract the eye) and then take the pics in the same outfit until you can't anymore because they are falling off. I find it is easier to compare photos when I am in the same outfit. It was quite motivating even when struggling with that obnoxious month 3 stall...

I found the less I looked like my β€œbefore” picture, the more I was willing to share it.

For a few months after reaching goal, i would show my β€œbefore” pic to anyone and everyone who asked (and i was even in my underwear in that pic!)

Now not so much cuz no one cares anymore, LOL.

But yeah, take those pics!!!

Thank you for sharing - you look fantastic. Must be amazing to see yourself shrinking like that looking back! Fingers crossed I get half as much from my surgery.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
