AmberWaves 0 Posted December 12, 2007 Thank you! I went to my consultation Dec. 3, so it took about a week and a half to get approval. Good luck with your approval too!!!!!

4jin 0 Posted December 13, 2007 Nice Job Amber, from what I have read UHC is a hard one to approve...you must have a good plan. I have BCBS...I just finished all my preop requirements I am waiting for the coordinator to coordinate(lol) and submit to the insurance....but I am shaking in my pants already... k2k07 0 Posted December 14, 2007 CONGRATULATIONS!!! I have UHC Choice Plus too and was approved within 48 hours. With my plan, I only had to have a BMI of 40. If you don't have that, then it may take a little longer for them to "check out" your co-morbidities. From what I've seen and read, UHC is one of the easiest to get approved from. Best of luck to you!
AnthonyNYC 0 Posted December 14, 2007 I've never done chats before so I hope I am doing this right. You are my very first chat. I too was just approved and they told my insurance company the surgery date will be the January 28, 2008 also but that was just to give them an answer. I am meeting with my doctor on the 20th of this month to work out an actual schedule which may be January 15th. I felt like I just won the lottery when they called me to tell me I was approved. I was so excited yesterday...today however I am starting to freak out. As I started researching post-op diets for the do's and dont's, I am realizing just what a food addict I really am. Not a dessert addict, a food/savory overeatting at every meal addict. (deep breath...okay ) I'm not going to ramble on and on, at least not right away. I just wanted to say congratulations and I am proud to be a January 2008 bandster. -Anthony

AnthonyNYC 0 Posted December 14, 2007 Wow another person!! Anthony where in NY are you? Who is your doctor? I live in the East Village in Manhattan. My doctor is Dr. Roslin at Lennox Hill.
Chrisann 0 Posted December 15, 2007 I live in the East Village in Manhattan. My doctor is Dr. Roslin at Lennox Hill. I am in Brooklyn and having surgery with Dr. Ren at NYU. Good luck with getting your date. I agree with you about being a food addict, when I first got my date of New Years Eve, I was upset that I would be on a liquid diet through all the parties and Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. What I failed to realize is that its the food that I would miss, not the people, I could still go and enjoy the company, just not eat the same things. imb316 0 Posted December 17, 2007 Dec. 31 with Dr Ren? Me to. Would love to have support.
Chrisann 0 Posted December 17, 2007 Just found out from my Oxford rep, (I am the Benefits Administrator for my company) that I was approved on December 13. Imb316, I am waiting to get the time. I am supposed to be very early in the day, like the first one of the day, but haven't heard yet. I am also making sure to bring my cell phone, and screw the no cell phone policy in hospitals, so I am with my friends and family when the ball drops. Hopefully will be in a room where someone isn't going to mind me being on the phone at midnight. I also need to have a tv in there. Did you start your liquids today? I was originally scheduled for January 21, which is why I am in this group.
