So it's been about 6 days Post-Op and almost painless. Though I still have a big purple bruising around the umbilicus.

So I wandering how long does it take for most of the bruising to go away?

Also have you done anything extra to take care of the scars so they can subside earlier and better?

Hope to hear from the experienced folks here! 😊

Once all scabs come off, about 2-3 weeks post-op, I started using BioOil. Then around week 6 I added in silicone scar tape. I have olive skin and tend to scar easily, both seem to be helping minimize discoloration though final results are still TBD. As far as bruising, I think I had bruises for probably 2 weeks. I feel like by the time the scabs were gone, so were the bruises. But, as with most things, every body is different and there is no right or wrong timeline for healing.

The bruising lasted about two weeks around one of my scars.
When everything was healed (around 4 weeks post op) I started using silicone scar tape. I am now almost 16 weeks post and they look a lot lighter already. I plan to use the scar tape till about 6 months post op (for new scars, at least 3 months is recommended I think).

Any specific brand of scar tape? And is it the silicone scar tape?

Any specific brand of silicone scar tape that you preferred?

I love bio oil. I’ve even used it on old scars & it improved them too. I applied it morning & night & massaged it in to help break down any scar tissue. I only have tiny faint lines left which you have to look for to see.

Just wait till the scars are fully healed (no open skin). As for bruising it really depends. I bruise very easily but surprisingly I didn’t have any bruises after my sleeve or my gall removal but my surgeon is very gentle. If you do scar try the silicon tape as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
