Is there a set time for taking Vitamins? I'm really struggling to get them down in the morning but am fine in the evening, is this acceptable?

Just don't take your calcium citrate with your daily Vitamins. If you are prescribed 1500 mg Calcium citrate, it should be taken 500 mg at a time. I take m daily vitamins (Bariatric Pal One-a-Day) in the morning, and my Calcium citrate at lunch, mid-afternoon, and at supper. I have my vitamins & supplements in a basket on my vanity so I see them when I brush my teeth and get ready for the day, so morning works for me. However, I think you could reverse the order with no harm.

Agree! Any time should be fine. One thing that helped me initially was taking a Multivitamin without Iron, and at the same time taking a slow release iron pill. This occurred towards the end of my Breakfast. I now take the bulk of pills (such as allergy and others, with one 500 calcium) for the day at dinner since my pouch accepts them more freely.

As long as you’re taking your daily dose it shouldn’t matter too much when you take it. I used to take one multi Vitamin in the morning & one in the evening to reduce the nausea taking them brought on. Just make sure to take them after you’ve eaten or with the last few sips of your shake, broth, etc.

I always take my Vitamins in the evening. Lord knows I don’t need one more thing to add to my morning routine.

Thanks for the replies on this, I am currently taking a chewable bariatric multivitamin that has the calcium citrate in it. It's a one stop shop until my tummy can deal with swallowing tablets. The downside is I have to take three of them daily and they're fairly hefty - but since I've been taking them in the evening thanks to the advice here, life has been much easier!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
