DaisyAndSunshine 303 Posted December 4, 2021 Nope, no drain! Just dissolvable stitches with steri strips over it and covered with transparent waterproof covering. 1 Weewee70 reacted to this
Lynnlovesthebeach 626 Posted December 4, 2021 Not after my gastric bypass but I did have 4 after my first plastic surgery and 2 after my second plastics.
The Greater Fool 2,054 Posted December 4, 2021 I had a drain. It was the bane of my existence because there is no medical tape that could secure tubing designed not to allow surgical tape to adhere to it. I tried them all. I finally threw caution to the wind and found the solution: Duct tape. Angels sang. By the time I went for my follow-op Doc had to get through layers of duct tape just to talk to me. Duct tape. I hear those angels sing every time I say it. If it doesn't move when it should: WD40. If it moves when it shouldn't: Duct tape. :angels singing: Most folks don't have a drain with their Gastric Bypass. But I recommend the duct tape for your surgical tape needs. catwoman7 11,220 Posted December 4, 2021 it's not very common. I think it might have been more common back in the days when they did open surgeries, but now that most are done laproscopically, it's not commonly done. I did have them for my plastic surgeries, though.
MiaRachelle 0 Posted December 8, 2021 I had one for just two days after surgery. Was removed before going home (yuck, by the way, the feeling of it coming out 😖).
Summermoose 193 Posted December 8, 2021 I had one for two days after surgery as well. The nurse warned me before removal that it would be VERY unpleasant but I felt nothing at all! Taking out my IV however, that was another story.. 🤣
