COLD hands, cold feet, cold nose???

Recommended Posts

Was just wondering if anyone is experiencing very cold hands, feet and nose?

I was checking out the 'net and wondering if I'm anemic. (I had been in the past). Seeing as I have yet to eat a steak - it's probably the cause.

I have an appt with my general practitioner next week, but wanted to see if anyone else shared this, and what did they end up having.

I've also heard it could be related to thyroid (but I was tested numerous times pre-banding and I was fine). I think I ruled out Raynaud's syndrome, because it's not situational.

I was banded 9/26/07, and I'm down 40 lbs. Pre-banding was still warm in the Northeast - we are in the dead of winter now and it's pretty cold here.

Thanks guys!

Brenda

I am experiencing the same exact thing! I just figured my body was not used to having all the extra insulation from my weight loss. I wear thermal PJ's to bed now instead of a sleeveless summer nightie all year long and wear socks for the first time in i swear 5 years cuz my feet are always like ice bergs. At least my husband is happy that i dont have the ceiling fans on year round anymore LOL!

me too I am so cold that I walk around the house in a blanket or robe and i use to hate to wear socks now I wear heavy socks and slipper. I just think that our bodies need to adjust to have less fat (a good thing) a insulation.

Brenda:

I live in Norwood, MA. I am cold all the time. I bought a bunch of pairs of long johns for women and I wear them under my clothes every day. I wear two pairs of socks most days too. I never had issues like this before. I'm thinking it's all of the insulation I've lost.

I recommend long johns. It may help.

Good luck....bbbrrrrrrr!

Not only insulation, but metabolism, I think. I have a skinny skinny friend who is always cold, and I used to make fun of her. Now I know exactly how she feels. We are up in Western Washington state visiting our kids for Christmas, and I can't wait to get back to Arizona and feel warm again!

I think it's just one of those things that happen when you lose weight. I've been cold for the past year! Before the band, I used to sleep with the windows open until it got below freezing. Now, if it's below 70, I'm sleeping in sweats and socks!

I specifically asked my surgeon this yesterday when I was in for my first post-op .. . and he said lost of people say they are cold post-op . . . and the ones who loose faster seem to be colder . . . he said that's just part of the body changing.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
