I am so ready to get started. I have family coming into town for Christmas. So I am going to enjoy myself and enjoy the family time. I am actually going to start my full liquid diet January 1,22. I figure why wait 4 days. I’m just going to do it. I am trying out different shakes, yogurts, and puddings now. I am very texture oriented. So this will be interesting.

For those who work… how much time are you planning on taking off for recovery?

I am trying different shakes too. So far I do NOT like Muscle Milk...way too sweet with a chemically aftertaste. I have some Premiere Protein vanilla to try. Any suggestions?

I really like Unjury in vanilla and chocolate. They have great chicken broth and unflavored too. On their site you can get sample packs. I haven’t had much luck finding on Amazon

Great...thanks for the info about the sampler pack. I think I will order one to check them out. I have put out a question to the forum regarding Isopure unflavored. My thought is if I can't find a flavored one I like, I can use an unflavored and make my own shakes as long as they are low in fat and sugar. I'm thinking Protein Powder + frozen strawberries + FF milk or something along those lines.

I'm crossing my fingers for a January date for my hernia repair and sleeve to bypass revision. Once insurance approves it will only be a few weeks. I'll hear from insurance by Christmas, it will be a very merry Christmas for me! I had my sleeve 7 years ago right before Thanksgiving. Sadly I developed some nasty GERD that has caused severe damage to my esophagus, as well as developed a large hiatal hernia.

I have 2 distinct parts to my job. With the standard cleaning portion with no heavy mop buckets I can go back to work 2 weeks after surgery. But I also deliver cleaning by supplies and because I need to lift 30-40 pounds the recovery time is around 4 maybe 6 weeks

I have a date but I don't want to get my hopes up. Like many of you, Covid delayed my surgery. Its been pushed twice because of COVID surges and hospital bed shortages. Fingers crossed for January 3rd.🤞

We're bypass buddies! Mine is the same day. When do you start your pre-op diet? Mine starts on December 20th - and I am nervous about it because I will be traveling and in Florida for most of it.

I start today! I get two Protein Shakes plus one carb-free meal per day. I actually did a trial run of it last month, and it got really easy after the first couple of days. Plus I lost 18 lbs over three weeks. You got this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
