Just had my pre- anesthesia appointment and asked about possible postponing. As of now if it it scheduled for Jan they are proceeding but unfortunately things can change. So it’s like we are all in limbo and hoping it doesn’t get cancelled at the last minute.

Yes, limbo. Thats the word I've beeen looking for. We're all tough Cookies for making it through these delays. I wonder what the surgery wait is for new patients. It seems they just keep getting more and more backed up.

12th is my magic number. The only thing that i'm nervous about is that maybe the weight loss wont be so fast because of my everyday meds.

I am on bipolar meds which are notorious to interfere with weight loss. I have lost slow but steady and I am about ten pounds from goal.

To ShoppGirl: omg, that's so good to hear. I have something similar so i am so relieved that it works with those meds.

Fly out to Vegas on the January 7th. Surgery is on the 11th. Anyone else going to Las Vegas for their surgery that week? I'll be the fat guy. You can't miss me. ;-)

I'm Jan 12th too! Super excited but nervous too. Started my preop diet on Monday and this is so hard during the holidays

I was lucky enough to start my preop today (Christmas). My family each made a favorite appetizer and we spent the day together. I had to leave them today because I couldn't be around all of the food today. They are very supportive and understand. Just about to make my second shake.

Stay strong! We've got this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
