MrsCharbonnet 7 Posted November 18, 2021 (edited) Hello everyone! So my surgery is scheduled for 11/24 a week away! I am now on the clear liquid diet. I am struggling, especially when husband has to cook and eat something. I try not to let him know it bothers me. I usually go in the office or bedroom to get away from smell. How do yall get past this?? Any suggestions?? Stacy Edited November 18, 2021 by MrsCharbonnet 1 cheryl o reacted to this
Tony B - NJ 643 Posted November 18, 2021 Once you get the surgery, you may find that you are not interested in eating a lot of different foods. Your restriction is going to limit you anyway, so for me, I just ended up not really bothered by the smell of cooking. Once you start losing the weight and get the desire to keep it going, you will be even more uninterested in those things. Things that I could not walk by without grabbing a piece have no power over me any longer. 2 vikingbeast and OutdoorsGirl reacted to this
Jaelzion 1,128 Posted November 18, 2021 The pre-op diet is the hardest part for some of us. Staying away at mealtimes helps. Also distracting yourself. Don't try to restrict your liquids, you can sip on broth or have clear Protein Drinks whenever you feel the need. sleep a lot if you can, LOL. If sugar-free Jello is allowed (it was for me), that can give the illusion of eating solid food. And generally just hang in there! It's difficult but worth it in the end. Hugs. 🤗 2 MrsCharbonnet and lizonaplane reacted to this
MrsCharbonnet 7 Posted November 18, 2021 Thanks! It is a struggle. Night time is harder cause my husband is home and he has to cook and eat. He told me I don't have to worry about cooking for him at this time so I don't get tempted! He is a great support. I have a different question how do I get that weight calculator on everyone's page? 1 Sunnyway reacted to this

Your husband seems really supportive; that's great! The weight calculator is at the top where your user name is, there should be a down arrow. Hit that, then go to "my surgery" then go to "progress" and you can change the weight there. You can also add "tickers" like I have below. Good Luck!
JDLane 140 Posted November 18, 2021 Hot broth was amazing for savory cravings during pre-op. If he's making dinner, I'd try that. It's a tough period and you'll still be hungry but somethings something nice and salty instead of all the sweet stuff is a much needed reprieve. You'll be on the other side soon enough! 1 MrsCharbonnet reacted to this

So yes everyday i cheated with one meal during the preop diet. Had only Water, ate a very small meal, like a ham/cheese sandwich. Had chicken breast(eating clean) and lost 10lbs that week and had no problems during surgery. Now its very easy to cook, see everyone eat, doesnt bother me. But im 3 weeks post op and Hair loss settled in which is frustrating. Good luck, youre gonna rock this!Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 MrsCharbonnet reacted to this
