As the title says.... Do/have any of you used the herbalife shake powders? If so did your dietician say they were ok? My wife and I are 10 days post op and cant stand all the premade Protein Shakes we bought but we have been able to get the herbalife ones to go down very smoothly and are getting the amount of Protein we need.

Don't a lot of the Herbalife products contain things beyond Protein like stimulants, laxatives, etc?

Also keep in mind by using their products you are supporting their "multi level marketing" business model that many people consider to be predatory.

I just checked the ingredient list on Amazon. They feature corn Syrup solids and soy Protein isolate - we were told to only use shakes that were made with whey protein isolate when were early out. Also, corn syrup isn't very healthy.

Do they still exist? Good gracious. They were huge decades ago but then got a lot of negative press.

Corn Syrup is the worst & should be avoided at all costs. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/why-high-fructose-corn-syrup-is-bad

There are lots of Protein powders available. You may have to do a comparison of their nutritional panels & ingredients to find the best & healthiest option.

Always best to speak with your dietician/nutritionalist for their recommendations.

Congrats on your joint surgeries.

I definitely would NOT use Herbalife for all the reasons listed above.

I also find the powder shakes really gross so I use the pre-mixed liquid. I have heard that if you use a blender for the powders they dissolve better, but I haven't tried that.

When in doubt, talk to your nutritionist

Good luck finding something you can tolerate.

I like plant-based Protein Drinks and shakes over the whey-based.

My dietician specifically told us to stay away from Herbalife and other MLM shakes lol. I liked the Premier Protein brand, they have tons of flavors to try. I also use the Vega brand but I only like the chocolate flavor.

That's a good dietitian. My fiance went to one associated with his primary care doctor who tried to sell him Shakeology during their visit. Needless to say he didn't go back and filed a complaint.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
