Jerald180 22 Posted November 14, 2021 Scheduled for a mini gastric bypass this Friday, the 19th. Trying today to get a list together of everything I need as far as new foods and drinks so I can have it all in house by then. Confusing with so many different sites saying different things or mentioning different products. I'm a single man and have to handle this alone and would really appreciate any help or sites that kind of lay it out in simple terms. I've been given alot of paprerwork from the doctor and hospital and met with the hospital's bariatric person. Guess how I feel afterwards will dictate what I drink the 1st few days or week, but still unsure of how often and what is allowed or suggested as a whole. Thanks in advance
Sunnyway 345 Posted November 14, 2021 If you don't already know how to cook, now is the time to learn. In order to eat differently for the rest of your life, you need to know how to choose, prep, and prepare appropriate meals. There are lots of supportive books about WLS and bariatric cooking. Here are a few that I've obtained: 1 Angelina1210 reacted to this
Jerald180 22 Posted November 14, 2021 Thanks! I will check them out and order one to start with. It'll be mid January before I can begin to eat regular foods, so I have plenty of time to learn.
The Greater Fool 2,054 Posted November 14, 2021 Your issue is that you are reading about other people's programs all of which are somewhat different and often conflicting. There is nothing that someone here is not eating, drinking, injecting, snorting, or smoking from the day of surgery onward. In the context of THEIR programs it may be correct but in the context of YOUR program, not. Your surgeon's team has given a lot of paper work on your program. Study it. If you have questions, ask your surgeon's team. Follow it. If you have issues or concerns your surgeon's team is where your answers lie. Some information here will fit into your program. Unless you know your program you can't know what tips here fit into it. The basics like "what to eat," "how much," and "how often" are critical to your plan and come from your medical team. Knowledge is power. Good luck. Tek 4 catwoman7, Sunnyway, Hop_Scotch and 1 other reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,003 Posted November 15, 2021 The rule of thumb around here is its best to follow YOUR plan and listen to YOUR team. Best thing I did is to read the paperwork start to Finish Writing down questions as I went but then going back And taking it step by step reading just a little ahead as I progressed. It can be a bit overwhelming to try to learn it all 100% ahead of time. Perhaps this will work for you too. 2 Sunnyway and Jerald180 reacted to this
