ShoppGirl 5,022 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) I met my surgeon for the first time at my first appointment but seen the nurse practitioner from then on until my pre op appointment where I seen the surgeon again. I think it varies drastically From one clinic to the next what they require and in what order. I only had to do the required supervised weight loss appointments for insurance, a nutritionist visit, a psych evaluation and pre op labs. Those were all the requirements. Some programs and insurances require more. Some people are required to do some heart tests to make sure they are okay for surgery and some doctors require a COVID test. catwoman7 11,220 Posted November 10, 2021 I had to do an EKG, a nuclear stress test (since my surgeon required it for patients over 50 years old), a sleep study...that might have been it (in addition to the labs and the various meetings). You'll almost certainly have to have a COVID test a couple of days before surgery, too, since that seems to be standard before any hospital procedure these days. Maisey 260 Posted November 10, 2021 Programs are structured very differently. Meeting the surgeon was my very last step. Classes, testing and other doctor visits all had to be completed first.
