I just heard from my doctor that my surgery is scheduled for Jan 18th. I am super excited! I've decided on the RNY due to GERD and heartburn that I currently suffer from.

Here another one who has scheduled his surgery on 18th. I've decided the sleeve though. Good luck!

Congrats! and LOL @ your weight lost number!

Gotta start somewhere...I like how they show it as .8000000000001 that's 8 times 10 to the negative 13th...I've no idea what that would be called LMAO

Hello all! I was scheduled for 12/13 but had to be moved to 1/11/22 because I just got diagnosed with covid :-( anyway, joining the group now! Excited for January. A little extra nervous because of the covid. I hope my doc isn’t rushing it post covid

There is another January Surgery Buddies post.. but I just wanted to put it here too...

My Jan 4 RNY procedure was just canceled until further notice due to non-vaccinated idiots taking up all the space in the hospital.

Location: Ann Arbor, MI

I'm sorry to hear that. I am worried about mine (1/18) being cancelled too. I live in MD and if the number of ICU due to covid goes above 1200 they will start cancelling non essential surgeries that require an overnight stay. We are around 1100 currently.

Thanks! Me too. She told me that they already had canceled all of December surgeries - and there were only 4 for that month. So I am 5th in line. They are only canceling the first 2 weeks of Jan for now.. but who knows. Ugh

Cue the emotional eating in retaliation of this news.

My surgery (Jan 3rd) it´s still moving on but I´ll do my pre-op appointment online instead of in-person, so the things are changing too here in Virginia and I´m worried that I the end they can call my surgery off.

Cross fingers!

Had pre- anesthesia appointment today surgery Jan 18th. All Dec surgeries cancelled at my hospital in Ohio. As of now they are saying if it is already scheduled for Jan they are still on the books but anything that was cancelled or need scheduling will be after Jan that is as of today. With this Covid who knows what will happen in the next weeks to come. Good Luck to all on keeping scheduled surgery dates.😬

Hi Buddies!! Mine is set for Jan 5th. I just completed pre-registration a couple days ago and had my last appointment before surgery with my Dr. I started my diabetic liquid diet yesterday. It will be strange not having Christmas dinner or really celebrating on New Year’s Eve but this too shall pass. Thankfully I have a very supportive family.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
