1 year anniversary and my hair is so thin!

Recommended Posts

I had vsg surgery last November. I had the typical shedding of hair that happens with weight loss. I thought I was over the hump. But my hair feels even thinner now. I just bought Bariatric Fusion hair nails and skin Vitamins as well as Olaplex. I haven’t been great with my vitamins, so I’m completely taking the blame. But I’m freaking out! Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Are you still meeting your Protein goals? Protein provides the amino acids which are essential to Hair growth. Maybe up your protein intake further as well to see if it helps. If you’re still losing, your body will be relying on the protein you’re consuming for more needs than growing hair.

When did you have your last blood test? You may be lacking in some essential nutrient which is contributing to your Hair loss &/or slow regrowth.

Have you spoken with your surgeon or GP?

Do you actually still see a lot of hair loss or is it just that your hair feels thin? It does take time for your new growth to catch up & replenish the hair you’ve lost. I cut my long hair to shoulder length so the new hair would take as long to grow to reach the length of my existing hair. It probably took well into my second year until my hair felt thicker again & much like it had been.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
