So, Today is my last day of eating the way I do. Tomorrow, I start a 21 day pre op diet. Milk , non starchy veg and yoghurt. For my last evening meal I had braised oxtail with mashed potatoes and gravy. What did everyone else have ?

An entire pizza with sausage, onion, and pepper. Looking back I cannot believe I ever allowed myself to eat like that. I haven't even tried pizza yet and if I did I am sure I'd make it through a third of a small slice before being done.

I had three sushi rolls and an avocado and crab salad for dinner, with a Hendricks Gin and Tonic for dessert.

I had mine a few days before so it wouldn’t be such a shock to get to the pre Op diet but I definitely had my last supper. It was Chinese. Sweet and sour chicken. I usually have that for New Year’s Eve. Not sure what I will do this year (lean cuisine version maybe)??

Honestly I don’t remember! But i do know it wasn’t anything special or planned. It was just another day, i think….AND it was also the last day that I didn’t log my food for the past 3 years…which is too bad cuz it would have been interesting to know.

I didn't have a last supper, we were in a long lock-down and so going to a favourite restaurant wasn't an option. So I spent the weeks counting down to my pre-op diet baking foccacia and cakes and making lasagna and noodle stir fries. By the time the pre-op diet came around I was ready for it.

Yes I feel the same, I have waited a long time for this chance. Bring it on.

I had half a grilled bbq chicken with aioli and rustic bread from one of my favourite restaurants, man did I suffer afterwards with an IBS flare 😆

My wife and I had surgery together and the last meal we had before surgery was Sushi. At 1 year out, we are able to tolerate rice but haven't had a true sushi roll since. I also haven't had a soda in over 1 year now and don't miss them as I wasn't a regular soda drinker.

My incredibly kind neighbors prepared my "last supper". It was unreal.

Filet mignon. Lobster tail. Cheesy potatoes. Roasted Brussels sprouts. And for dessert? Spiced chocolate pot de creme. I'm still dreaming about that meal...today is Day 3 of my 2-week pre-op diet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
