What do you like best about people?

As I was reading different posts tonight I noticed some responses made me feel good and some stirred up bad feelings. it got me to thinking about how people make us feel. I have always liked nice people, people that seem to really care and want to help in even the simpliest way. I don't like people that seem to have an opinion and only theirs seems to be important. I don't like people that are negative or seem to come at me with strong statements. I like people to approach me kindly and show interest in me. I don't like "Know it alls" unless they really know. I love intelligent people. I enjoy confident people, yet they are humble. I love people that listen, really listen.

I like everything you both just said......

:)

I have always believed that if you cant say anything nice....

just keep your mouth shut.

I have also noticed from a one of my threads on Christmas, not all people think like that. I was taken back by some of the things that they were saying to each other.

I like go getters, people that are direct, forthright, honest and work for what they want. I have absolutely no patience for whining, woe is me types or types that dont make their own luck.

Voo, I like honest people too. Very important to me and hard to fine!! I like direct people also. I love nice people as i said but only if it is genuine, not if they are only nice to your face and someone else other times.

A strong sense of humor. Beyond anything else, this is - to me - the key sign of intelligence and wit.

Honesty, openess, being direct. To me, that's very close to being trustworthy.

People who are competent.

People who put forth effort to better themselves.

People who are not afraid to march to the beat of their own drum.

I agree! I like people who focus on what they can do and people who view an obstacle as a challenge to overcome.

Yeah, something positive!

I like people like my grandma - warm, caring, always interested in people around her, laughs at little things, doesn't get mad over little things either, knows how to have a good time.

I like honesty and humility.

I like loyalty and sense of humor--especially people who can laugh at themselves and do it regularly.

I like people who refuse to be a victim no matter what their circumstances may be.

I like people who are direct and hard working.

I'm sure I could think of more...

I like respectful people - if a person is respectful of others then they are normally a very good person and well rounded. You can have a strong opinion about something and still be respectful of others opinons. I like to think that was the most important thing I taught my children, respect yourself first, only know you and can you respect your thoughts and actions? Respect others, whether they be above, below or your equal, if you treat a person with respect most of the time they will in return treat you the same. I've always like John Travolta - always been my favorite actor and I thought he just seems like a nice man and then I heard Oprah talking about him with someone one day and they said he always treats everyone with respect and he finds something interesting about everyone. From the waiter who brings his food to the senator sitting at his side, he doesnt' treat one better then the other. I just think thats how I want people to perceive me.

Them next to respect has to be humor. Laughter is the best medicine and I need it daily. I enjoy being around people who can find joy in the smallest of pleasures.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
