NikoNiko 22 Posted October 28, 2021 I have my pre-op appointment on Nov 15th. What should I expect? Surgery is scheduled for December 2nd.
ShoppGirl 5,024 Posted October 28, 2021 I just had to fill out paperwork and watch a video. 1 NikoNiko reacted to this
vikingbeast 987 Posted October 28, 2021 My surgeon weighed me, took some vitals (BP, heart rate, respiration rate, temperature, pulse ox), worked with me on setting a realistic weight loss goal, prescribed post-op medications (painkillers, anti-nausea meds, and stool softeners) and gave me the rest of the half-hour to ask whatever questions I had. He also ordered the pre-op testing I would need: EKG, blood work, urine sample, etc. 1 NikoNiko reacted to this
suzannethemom 121 Posted January 27, 2022 Viking Beast, that is SO helpful. So basically, they re-do the blood work that they did in the beginning, right? Where did you have the EKG done? Was it with your primary care doctor?
vikingbeast 987 Posted January 27, 2022 My surgeon's office was in the hospital itself, so he had me trot around to various departments. The EKG was in the cardiology department. The blood work and urine sample were in the lab across the hall. The only involvement my primary care doctor had was a separate appointment to give final clearance for surgery, which was basically him reviewing the results of the labs and EKG and then going, “Are you ready?” “As ready as I’ll ever be.” 1 suzannethemom reacted to this
