I took mine, but I never used it while in the hospital

I took mine and used it. I slept in the recliner in my hospital room and put the CPAP on the tray that they would place my food on.

My surgeon required I had the CPAP with me the day of surgery. When I got to my room I never even gave it a thought since I was so out of it. I ended up using it for maybe an hour or so.

I took mine and came round from surgery withit hooked up to the air at the side of the bed because my sats kept dropping down so they hooked it uptoy CPAP machine

I was told to bring my mask and hose, but not the machine. I didn't use it at all (I was in and out the same day). I did sleep and somehow I managed to sleep without it, and apparently I wasn't snoring.

Yes, take your CPAP. If you are kept overnight you will use it.

Thanks for all replies! I will take mine. I've been using mine for years every night. I am one of those that had apnea before gaining weight.. not hopeful that mine will go away after surgery :).

Lucky you. I hope it's because you no longer have apnea and not that you just quit using your CPAP.

You should call your DME (durable medical equipment) provider who sold you the CPAP so they can replace it with one that doesn't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
