CharlotteC88 3 Posted December 25, 2021 Hi. Had my sleeve on the 18th December … so one week out! Live in the UK - paid privately. I lost a stone prior to surgery and have now lost a further 11 pounds. No regrets at all. Bring on 2022! 1 1 Angelina1210 and huskymama reacted to this

Of course I knew there would be some, but I feel like I really wasn’t prepared for just how much. I’m now 16 days post-op, still hurting from the scars and still black and blue with bruises. The mental side of it is really tough as well. My cravings for bad food (burgers, pizza, cake etc) are just as strong as before. It’s kinda like torture doing this at Christmas when there is almost limitless junk food around. Everyone else is enjoying themselves and I’m stuck with a Protein Shake and liquid paracetamol. I guess it’s nice to know that I’m not alone and there’s plenty of other people struggling to get back to “normal” (whatever that means for us post-op). I'm right there with you. I had RNY on Dec 1 and I truly was ill-prepared for the pain. At 25 days out, I'm still having a fair bit of pain and look as if I were pelted with golf balls at high velocity. I'm grateful to be on purees at this point, because at least it's more satisfying than liquids. But I'm beginning to wonder when this whole experience begins to become more pleasant. 1 armartin98 reacted to this

Ngotsleeved 12 Posted December 26, 2021 Hi all, I am new. I was sleeved in Turkey on December 20th. Back home now and still thinking about food, I am putting this down to it being Christmas and there being so much in the house. I am still sore from surgery but feel better every single day. 1 1 Angelina1210 and huskymama reacted to this
huskymama 149 Posted December 26, 2021 Post op day 4 VS and I feel so much better today. I am able to get off the Anti-nausea medication so far today - knock on wood - and I’m tolerating Water and Gatorade zero very well. I am going to combine 1/2 Water with 1/2 Protein Water today. I’m supposed to be up to 64 ounces yesterday I got just under 20 but I think today I may actually hit that goal. I still have a ton of gas my tummy is always talking grumbling and squeaking I’ve named it bubbles because it has taken on a personality of its own lol. I have no interest in food none in fact Christmas dinner made me dry heave just the smell. I’m not having any cravings but Water and Gatorade although when my husband popped open a Coke and pored it over ice I’m not gonna lie I wanted a drink so bad and it smelled so good. Funny thing is I gave up soda around 2 years ago so I was shocked by that one. Not sure what I weigh yet so I’ll post it when I weigh in today. I was never on pain meds - just Tylenol- I haven’t had anything since post op day 2. I live with ice packs seems to help. Also I know my stomachs had enough because I now sneeze when it’s full which is not fun l. Hope everyone here had a Merry Christmas and is feeling better! 1 armartin98 reacted to this
LotsoLabs 1 Posted December 26, 2021 Sleeved 12/15, and went to our annual Chinese food dinner last night for Christmas. I discovered the joy of egg drop soup! It tasted great, and while everyone had their meal, I gently separated the egg bits from the Soup and ate the one bowl. I was comfortable, not deprived and for the first time since the surgery felt like I had the energy I had pre-surgery. Getting better every day. Looking forward to seeing the doctor on Monday morning, and hopefully I can move to the pureed stage. Already down a solid 25 lbs from my all time high before the pre-op. Feeling hopeful. 1 huskymama reacted to this

I'm thinking, what did I do to myself. I'm sure it will all be good later. Thanks for asking. How are you doing? 1 huskymama reacted to this

I did a five minute walk on my block and the gas issue subsided immensely. I put a tummy binder in for that. The food aversion was strong for like 15 days. I’m on mushy food now and it coincided with my body’s sudden desire to eat again. Wish you the best!
Karimor98 6 Posted December 26, 2021 Hey guys! So I’m postop 3 weeks now, I got clearance to eat soft foods and I went a little crazy. I feel like I over ate and now am having abdominal cramps and retching. I need to work on having a better relationship with food for sure. But has anyone else been through this? I’m so disappointed in myself but will stay on the right path from now on

I’m so disappointed in myself but will stay on the right path from now on 100%. I feel like my brain and my stomach are not on the same page at all. My head wants to eat anything and everything just like normal. It’s only a few minutes after devouring a meal that my stomach makes me very much regret my life choices haha! Im getting psychological support on top of my surgery to try and get my mind under control. It’s clear they operated on my stomach, not my brain, so while the stomach will help us lose weight, it’s up to us to change our thoughts and habits to make it work long term. good luck! You are not alone!
Jai D 14 Posted December 26, 2021 (edited) Yes, I read there’s a term called snatiation for the sneezing. I thought I was getting a cold as I had a runny nose and back to back hard sneezes soon after surgery so I googled it and realized it’s a real thing (not a sickness.. thank goodness). 9 days post op and the sneezing has subsided. I lost about 13.5 lbs in the first 7 days. Now I gained back 1/2 lb so I’m down 13 lbs. I haven’t lost weight or gained in about 3 days. I’m not too worried because I was sleeping a lot and recovering from surgery plus I’m due for my TOM so I suspect just like b4 surgery my cycle will cause a stall and perhaps a slight Water weight gain and then right after my cycle I will drop again. I’m def able to drink more now and very little sneezing so hopefully it goes away for you too. Now I just feel full just like b4 surgery, but with a smaller tummy. Best of luck!
