Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?

Recommended Posts

I had to send a message to the “team” to get the diet instructions we supposedly “…already received at the pre-op class” but the class isn’t scheduled until Dec. 10, which is also just 5 days before my surgery. You’d think they might want to share that BEFORE the patient is required to start the 14 day diet. So, I get my Zoom pre-op class, diet instructions, virtual book, and surgery instructions just 5 days before surgery.

I’m guessing chances are slim the Zoom class format will maintain patient confidentiality so they don’t broadcast our names and faces to everybody in the program and across the web.

Yesterday was my surgery still very tired ( so I won’t go into too much) but that gas pain is the devil!

@NikoNiko do you still have a lot of gas today?

After surgery yesterday I slept like all day and tried to move while awake trying to get the gas pain to go. It finally let up today except when I’m trying to drink the broth-liquid Protein mix.

Not as much. But I’m still very full. I still have not passed any gas. Working on my Fluid and Protein goals and walking. So far I’ve taken about 20 ounces of Water. And half of a Premier Protein shake. I bought some concentrated protein that has 18 grams/ 1 oz. I took one shot of that as well.

Post-op day two… feeling the soreness of those incisions but it’s not bad. I think I will feel a million times better if i go to the bathroom or pass lots of gas.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
