November Surgery Buddies!!!

Recommended Posts

I am doing great. I am at my goal weight. Averaging around 185 lbs. I can eat whatever I want at this point but not much of it. No complications so far. Now I contemplating my ideal weight of 175 which I didn’t ever think would be possible.

Life has been crazy busy with my career and home life. I am thankful for all the extra energy that I have now and with the heat wave we are experiencing I am loving not being drenched in sweat all the time. I find myself being cold at times which is not something people in Miami say often. I still enjoy hearing about all of the success my November surgery buddies are having. I think it has been a great experience for most of us. Keep up the good work everyone!

Great to hear from you all! It's so interesting how we have picked such a range of goal weights/BMIs.

I am almost exactly 9 months out now, 108lbs lost, BMI is 24.8, still losing about a pound a week and absolutely loving that. Gonna ride this horse as far as it gets me :1610_horse_racing_tone1: Loving my new life.

Just checking in with my November buddies again. I'm 10 months post surgery. Weight lost 111lbs, BMI 24.4 so I've only lost 3lbs in the last month. One week did include a vacation when I didn't track my intake and had a bit more alcohol to drink than usual. Life's gonna be like that.

My goal (that I set 10 months ago and never believed I could ever reach) is now 5lbs away and it feels like I'll probably make it. This surgery is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

How's everyone else getting along? Lots of us must be close to or at our goal weight now. Anyone not doing so well and needing some support?

Yeees!!! So happy for you!!! I am in a very similar situation - just 5 pounds away from my goal, taking vacations, barely limiting myself on anything, and enjoying life IN FULL!!! Agree with 100% - this surgery was the best decision I ever made! Congrats to us, we did it!

Looks like my last post was on July 27. Things have slowed down quite a bit. Still doing well though. I finally cracked into the two-sixties with a weigh in last Saturday of 269. That would be -134 overall. In the last 2 weeks, I've increased my walking and hitting the gym. Body comp definitely changing so I'm less concerned about the scale at the moment. I still see losses in my face and the way my clothes fit even if its a bit less off the scale. My goal is to crack the two-fifties before Nov 15... my 1 year anniversary. The last time I was that weight was high school... 30 years ago.

Feeling good. Arrhythmia gone for a few months now. Getting stronger.

Ah I was hoping you would check in @ForMyOhana

134lbs off is just amazing in 10 months - that's a stone a month (I know I'm fixated on Irish measures, but I'm Irish!)

Absolutely everything crossed for you hitting that 259 mark before your surgery-versary!! :99_muscle:

Surgery date Nov 22nd. I'm self-paid so everything is moving fast, just need to do a couple of mandatory classes and in 2 weeks get the surgery clearances. Can't deny I was thinking about Thanksgiving, but I will either be on preop or post op, and I would rather get it done that week that I may not be as busy with work.

I will still be in puréed foods for Thanksgiving! that bugged me a little, but I keep reminding myself that getting together is more important than what I eat! (though I may make a pumpkin pudding for myself to enjoy!)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
